Who had this and what has been your experience? Good? Bad?

Good: You get west coast feeds for some cable channels, which was very nice back before I got DVR (in September)

They send you an on screen alert every time there's any sort of free preview or service. I watched "There Will Be Blood" over a dozen times in one week during a Showtime free preview. That was awesome.

Their service people are great, never really had any service interruptions for TV or internet.

I liked their remote better than any other cable company I've had to use before

Bad: Slightly more expensive than Verizon (though Verizon customer service makes me want to murder/kill/destroy)

HD is only 720 instead of 1080, with no announced timeline to upgrade.

Eaglette dumped it for Time Warner a year ago because U-Verse had an annoying habit of going all pixelated and lock up for minutes at a time. I passed on U-Verse because of her experience and went with DirecTV, which I really like. The HD is phenomenal on my HD TV.

In all fairness to U-Verse, she lives in North Dallas inside LBJ and I live in Richardson. You may have excellent results if the U-Verse infrastructure where you live is reasonably new. Also, they may have improved their signal distribution in the last year.

We had the same issues in Houston. I never really experienced a notable difference from other providers and now have Direct TV.

For me UVerse is pretty good. They don't charge as much as satellite for DVRs etc and the programming has been pretty solid for us.

Verizon Fios. Nuff said.

The Verizon DVR system doesn't have all the features like the AT&T DVR system. With Verizon I can't schedule shows from the non-DVR units to record on the DVR unit. You can do just about anything with the AT&T non-DVR units that you can with the DVR unit.

I haven't had a problem with Verizon since I moved into my house though but I kinda liked what AT&T U-Verse had a little bit better.

TiVo + cable card.

TiVo + cable card.

I would need two TIVO$ and 2 cable card$ for my set up though. You also still pay for the "rental" service charges for the 2 cards, and while I haven't crunched the number for the 2 TIVOs/2 cards, I suspect it'll be more than what I would be paying right now.

Two TiVos would be $12.95+9.95+7.98 = $30.88 vs. two FiOS boxes for $30. The difference is you do have an up front cost with each TiVo box, but you get what you pay for. Only question is whether or not TiVo will have a solution once Verizon rolls out IPTV.

Thanks everyone. I'll be looking to get their internet service.

Do you have a MAC or PC? For me, there internet service has been ok. The speed is fine on my PC. However, my wife has a MAC and it is constantly saying she doesn't have the internet. We have no problems on other wireless connections with her computer, but 2 out of the 3 routers from AT&T have given us this problem.

I have a MAC and one time in 6 months my computer couldn't recognize the router, lasted about 3-4 hrs and has been fine since. I have heard other people with MAC's have this problem more frequently though.

i may be late to this party, but I've never been able to get Outlook to work with anyone's AT&T U-verse internet. This is after sitting on the with tech support about a hundred thousand minutes on multiple occasions only to be told "it should work" but "it may not be compatible." So if you use Outlook, it's something to consider. I've never had a problem with any other provider.

"Not compatible?" Sounds like you got some retarded phone monkey on crack.

I ordered dsl on December 28th, and after many many delays and errors the current activation date is set at February 11...

I know I am proabably the exception and not the rule. Just sayin' that the turn around time (and run around the last 3 weeks) is riduculous.

We have Uverse. Initially we were disappointed. Customer service SUCKS! After some time our issues were resolved and we are pretty happy. Both PC and Mac work great, but we use an Airport station even though the system has wifi. The big feature is playing back any vid from any tv. The big negative is every tv HAS to have a box. No splitting off to run a line elsewhere (like the garage or outside to watch a game so you can grill while the kids watch SpongeBob).

When it works we love Uverse. Unfortunately that is not always the case. I say we have to reboot the system about twice a month now. (that's a big improvement)

Also, if you are watching something very popular your chances of a frozen screen followed by a reboot greatly increase. Twice this happened for the AFC Championship Game. That does not make me want to have people over for the Super Bowl.

I've had virtually all of them at one time or another. I keep going back to DirecTV.

...but it isn't the service and rather the equipment that is causing those of you with internet problems, to have those problems.

ONLY use the ATT/Verizon/Cable gateway (modem) and install your own router and AP, preferably separate devices. ...a GOOD router is a good router but won't be a good AP. Likewise, a good AP is a good AP, and will most likely make a lousy router if you try to make it be one.

...ATT sends you a gateway/router/AP built to the cheapest specs by the cheapest labor in China, and you wonder why you have to reboot it every day...

I've never had a problem with the equipment at&t and Verizon have sent for internet/television/telephone.

I may have rebooted my at&t UVerse modem/router/AP once (by accident!) the whole time I had it powered for 13 months. I can say about the same with DSL modem I had when I live in Rogers, AR where I never rebooted the modem/router/AP.

My Verizon FiOS modem/router/AP hasn't been rebooted since I got the service installed mid-December. The only complaint that I would have about the VZ modem/router/AP is that it doesn't have a UPS like my at&t UVerse modem/router/AP did.
