Recruiting Denton Hs Players

in all honesty... within the city of Denton, the cities best talent hasnt really panned out ... outside of Jarvis Moss and Herman Johnson, none of the highly recruited guys out of DISD schools have made it into the NFL... UNT has several alums in the NFL!!!! if they dont feel a sense of pride in playing for your home city, then go ahead and get on the road son we wont missin ya!!!

.... On top of that Jarvis and Herman were being recruited by the likes of LSU, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma... not sure we' ever have a shot at getting any of those kinds of recruits. But their are other recruits in the 2-4 star range who we could get but dont for whatever reasons... not to say some of those guys dont have good reasons but for the most part DISD athletes shun the U of NT...

Point being who cares if these kids choose Stillwater, SMU, Ruston or Monroe over there home town. We dont need them... I have a list of DISD athletes who thought they were too good to go to UNT but now live back in town and you see on Fry St gettin drunk...

You can get good football players all over the country. 3 highschools arent gonna hurt us in the big picture...

I don't know about that. We damn sure need their families and friends. Start getting the local kids interested and involved, and over time you'd have the coveted "community" support that we long for.

their friends and families dont give a damn about UNT... they will root for whatever school their boy goes too... La Tech, SMU, TCU, Houston,etc.... im just stating the obvious, ive lived in Denton my whole life so i kinda have a feel for how Dentonites percive UNT...

When a Denton athlete chooses to sign with La Tech or ULM i take that as a slap in the face... and its happend...many many many times

so after seeing this go down for the past decade ive come to the conclusion... screw em we dont need em...

What Denton athletes have signed with ULM or La Tech in the last five years? I can think of one and that is Hook from Denton Ryan that has verbally committed to La Tech this year. Sure they are going to support the school their child attends, it is part of being a parent. I don't think Aldridge was even contacted by NT prior to signing with Houston.

Denton and North Texas have an odd relationship, but every D1 talent at DHS, Ryan and Guyer should be contacted by North Texas and I would expect McCarney will make sure of this in the future.
