Who's Defense Went From 118Th To 68Th Nationally

WESTERN KENTUCKY'S, that's who.

2009 Total Defense= 118th, 478.25 Total Yards Per Game.

2010 Total Defense= 68th, 380.17 Total Yards Per Game.

2009 Pass Defense= 81st, 233.42 Yards Per Game

2010 Pass Defense= 37th, 202.92 Yards Per Game.

2009 Rushing Defense= 118th, 244.83 Yards Per Game.

2010 Rushing Defense= 86th, 177.92 Yards Per Game.

That's a pretty solid turnaround for 9 months of work.

True, in three years he got us from 113th in '08 to 76th this year in total defense. However, after Deloach's first year in '08 we actually went backwards in total defense from the previous season, dropping from 113th to 118th. So needless to say what Bowen was able to accomplish in only 9 months at wKY was fairly significant.

I'd say what Bowen accomplished this past season at WKU was very significant. He Improved the defense big time with the same kids. This is huge. Imagine if we can go from 76th to 40th or so?

Well, Mendoza's defense at Springtown HS let a school, FW Southwest, who had never won a playoff game in its 40+ years of existence, march down the field and score the winning TD with 4 seconds to go in a 4A playoff game a few weeks ago.

That hire by Todd Dodge may go down as the worst position coach ever at UNT.

Great point. I also think the caliber of athletes we have here are much better than WKU's. Hopefully that'll translate to even better production.

And a quick glance at the all-SBC team shows he did it with 1...ONE....guy that got that recognition, a second team Sr LB (though another LB made honorable mention).
