Interesting to read today that Leach would like to be Miami's next head coach. Even more interesting that Miami has said no coach with baggage need apply. Leach calls it a "perfect fit" and it seems Donald Trump is in his corner with this. But a "Miami Trustee told the "Miami Herald" that the school will not hire any coach with any baggage, a reference to Leach, Jim Leavitt and Butch Davis."

Perhaps Leach might want to re-consider suing every one in sight if he wants to get back into being a head coach anytime soon. Priceless...the Pirate is living in Key West and wants to be the HC of one of one of the high profile "outlaw" programs in recent NCAA history. You just can't make this stuff up!

Wow, is Leach even too much of an outlaw even for Miami? At first I liked the pipedream idea of Leach somehow coming to NT but I am more than happy with coach Mac and truly believe he was the perfect fit for us.

Did the article state why Trump would be in his corner? Is Trump a Miami alum or fan or a fan of Leach? I could see those two teaming up on some business deals with Trumps money and personality plus Leach with his personality and he is an attorney, that could be a deadly combination.

Article did not mention the connection between Leach and Trump...but seems to be a match-up made in heaven to me! Ha!

Leach gets what he deserves for lawyering up to the hilt instead of settling the matters behind closed doors. I believe Texas Tech did not deal with him squarely at the time he signed the contract.

But, when the Adam James thing blew up - and, Leach helped it blow up - he should have cut a deal with the university and gone on his way.

The problem with these situations is that you can win legally and still end up losing. Jim Leavitt and Mike Leach have let attorneys talk them into fighting when the better course, over time, would have been to settle out and move on.

The question to ask is - do you want to be legally right, or do you want to be employable? Schools don't want any hint of NCAA scrutiny. They also don't want to tie up their funds in lawsuits. There are better uses for the money.

The end results is, schools are not going to stick their necks out for coaches whose actions may invite NCAA scrutiny, lawsuits, or both. There are too many other coaches in the available coaching pools who will not bring those kinds of troubles and time wastes.

Jim Leavitt and Mike Leach need to really step back away from the trees and look at the forest. That will include the need to fire their attorneys, make apologies, and show that they are willing to pay the price in humility to get back in the game. As long as they are listening to their attorneys, it will never happen.

A fan and now a friend...real interesting story. Leach and his daughter went to Trump Tower to meet Trump on a trip to New York because Leach had read one of his books. Anyway, he did not get in, but somebody told Trump some guy who coaches football in West Texas wanted to meet him. Anyway, Trump ended up calling Leach, and the next time Leach was in New York, they met. Trump did the intro to the game when they beat Texas a couple of years ago. Takes balls to just walk in and ask to speak to the Don.

If you look and act like "a lawsuit waiting to happen" schools will shy away from that as a new hire. Doing damage control at an introduction press conference is not what ADs and Presidents like to do.

I'm not sure Leach to Miami would work. He seems like the type that has to be in a perfect situation. Leach and Tech were perfect for each other. I don't know if that relationship can be recreated anywhere else.

For all those that said Leach would take a better job, sit and watch how no Big 6 conference school goes anywhere near him.

I hope we at least talked to him.

LIke who we have - very experienced and very low risk. Actually, he quite a bit more experienced than Leach is.

Since Leach is too much of a risk for the dirtiest program in America to touch, I would hope we didn't waste too much time talking to him!

For the sake of due diligence, I hope we gave him a phone call, but...

Mccarney + Enthusiasm > Leach + Arrogance + Baggage

All I ever asked.

He is probably still in denial and thinks he can get a better job.

Leach had an incredibale win record.

That said if DanMac does as well as I think he will he is a better fit then old Leach for us. I do believe that DanMac if successful may retire here.

I was a full blown Leach Fan but I think in the long run we have a better coach in DanMac.

If like many lawyers, Leavitt and Leach only cared less about their reputations than they do about money?

Rick

Do you mean if only they cared more about their reputations than money? Seems to me they do care less about their reputations than they do about money. If they didn't perhaps they would have thought twice about getting themselves in the situation they did where they felt the need to sue? Sometimes that quick to blow temper can get you in a bit of trouble. If only their Moms had taught them to count to 10 slowly before they react in anger???? Mothers can be right, you know.

Just think if Tiger had thought with his brain instead of that other part of his anatomy he might still be married to that smokin' hot wife he had, still have his game, contact with his kids anytime and his reputation. Gee, imagine that? Silly fella that Tiger Woods.

84-43 at Tech, with many accomplishments at Kentucky and Oklahoma as OC, not to mention many prior coaching accomplishments. Baggage I guess, but a proven winner!!! Who created the baggage, sports media? Wonder what his previous Tech players thing of Leach? Lets not include kids of SMU players (we already now what they think). Tech 2010 7-5 with no baggage well respected former SEC coach. Wonder how their coach will recruit this year. I wonder how many TTech fans would like leach back? B)

End of the day I think Miami hires the person who they think gets them back to the Big Time. They just got rid of a coach who was a “good guy” (by-the-way did you know, according to ESPN, that for the past couple of years the only schools to graduate more of their players were the Army and Navy academies).

I have yet to meet a Tech fan that did not want Leach back, and word is that the AD is being forced to retire over this whole mess.

I have a good friend who's stepson plays for Tech. He said he was overjoyed that Leach was leaving, and loved the direction Tuberville was taking the program. Just one opinion, but I would be comfortable in assuming this is shared by many. Now the QB's, WR's and RB's may feel differently considering this young man is a DB.

The question will come down to the $$$$ impact if the wins do not come

not true at all

Tech sold the largest amount of season tickets in program history......more tickets than the new UNT stadium holds

Donations to the Red Raider Club are also up over the last few years as well......both are facts....both prove your claim false

and Gerald Myers has been rumored to retire for years now he is well past retirement age, Tech's facilities have gone through a massive transformation under him, he has been there over 20 years as a university employee and he and he alone decided it was time to move on

what you wrote above is completely and 100% false.....stop talking to T-Shirt fans and broke dicks and start talking to Tech fans that actually matter
