I just stumbled onto this. Sorry if it's already been posted:

You can put a deposit down on season tickets to the new stadium.

Very Exciting!

Okay, I don't get the idea of the deposit. It says "It guarantees your spot at the new Football Stadium", but it says the seat selection process begins in the Spring and will be based on MG points.

So, what's the point of this?

My guess is to gauge the interest in tickets. If it looks like they will sell 20,000 season tickets, why not jack up the price.

Or to prove to a conference that UNT is a better candidate

A LOT of teams do this, especially pro teams.

They need to see what kind of demand they're going to have.

It's a smart thing to do...

Nope...to get a better idea of season ticket renewals and numbers of new season ticket holders, to hopefully gain new Mean green Club members and to allow current season ticket holders (and others for that matter) to up their number of Mean Green Priority Points (is that what they call them?) to improve their seat selection priority. I see no "sinister plot" here by the Athletic Dept. to somehow gauge their ability to raise season ticket prices a great deal. We have been told all along that ticket prices will be higher in the new stadium, but they are not looking to jack prices up significantly.

It would do the Mean Green and our new HC a great good if people would, in fact place deposits now for next year's seats. Our new HC has been charged with bringing new season ticket holders to the table, retaining current season ticket holders and helping to sell Club Level and Suite packages. It's always nice to know what base you have to work with before heading out to sell a program if you are a new HC or member of the new HC's staff. Seems a very smart move on the part of the staff with this offer. Besides, if you are going to buy tickets for next season, why not up your points total a bit by placing a deposit on your seats now?

I have placed my deposit for two seats. I look forward to being a part of the Club Level Seating and the Club Lounge! In the words of KRAM1, "Good Things are Happening for the Mean Green!" The athletic department has made a statement with the hiring of Coach Mac and retaining Chico. More fans need to respond to that statement with their further support by joining the Mean Green Club and making a donation to the New Stadium Fund!

I am hesitant to do this for one simple reason. We buy 4 tickets for 2 people and try to get others to come to the games with us. I am not sure if we are going to continue this at the new prices because I don't know what they are. If I say 4 and it turns out that we can only really afford 3 at the higher price, I don't want to over commit. I would like to continue with 4, but life changes and I don't want to make a promise I am not prepared to keep.

But why can't they just sell us our season tickets now? I just don't understand why purchasing tickets for every event has to be so confusing and difficult. Why do I need to come to gmg.com for clarification? Because our ticket office doesn't even know how to explain what they're doing. Building a program is more than coaching/winning games/etc. Lets improve in all areas.

just put down a deposit for 4 tickets! only have had 2 for the last several years, but kids are getting older and some may want to come to the games. Eventually I'll need 8 total just for my wife and kids :unsure:

We need about 1,000 more Brady Bunch familes in the stands.

Well this certainly is confusing. If the tickets are "around $100" that leaves a lot open for interpretation. Are MY new seats around $100? Or are the $100 seats at the tip of the wingzone? I would love to reserve my 7 season tickets that we have had for the last SEVEN years but I have no idea where they will be at or how much they will end up costing. And now to spook me even more our friend Mr. Campbell threw out the bomb that the kids korner, oops I mean family pack seats will be in the wingzone? That is a huge downgrade in my opinion. And I know for a fact that they sell a LOT of those family pack packages. Do you want to risk pissing all of us off? Hey I understand the need to get this out early but please, let's provide more details than this.

Lets say you always purchase your season tickets with a couple friends to make sure you sit together, as I assume most of you do. When making your 'deposit' do you have to convey that message with the ticket office? Again, this is too confusing. We've had how long to determine our price points for this new stadium?

The view from the wingzone is going to be fantastic. It will be alot closer than most of the seats ever were at Fouts. I sat in the endzone at Reliant Stadium for the Charger game a few weeks ago, and it was a really neat vantage point seeing plays develop.

Folks, my take on this is that it is not confusing at all. It is a $100 "deposit". The $100 is not the price of the ticket package...it is just what it says...a "deposit". If you have had four and want four...AND want to make a deposit that would be $400. There is no REQUIREMENT that you make a deposit for next season. It is just a good way to get some of the costs allocated now and for the department to have some idea of what they are working with. And, maybe to add to your point totals for seat placement/selection in the new stadium.

Unfortunately, I do not see the stadium selling out with season ticket holders, so there should be plenty of time to select seats...with or without friends and in the amount you decide you want AFTER the full price is announced. So, please don't panic over this or assume it is some sinister plot by the athletic dept. to lock folks in and then raise ticket prices out the roof. I would even imagine that if you put a deposit down on 4 and then only needed two that the folks in the ticket office would allow you to use the $$$$ you deposited on the tickets you do intend to purchase (certainly confirm this before you try it! Ha!).

This is a very common practice with many schools as they work to budget and plan. Just another indication that UNT is moving in the right direction as it grows and develops its programs. Yes, good things are happening at UNT, and this move indicates to me a good bit of planning on the part of the athletic department.

The deposit has nothing to do with where you're going to sit. It just gives the athletic dept. an idea of how many tickets you're going to buy. They can give their deposit, you can give your deposit. Then when it's time to select seats, select them together.

"Once the seat selection process begins in the spring of 2011, you will be contacted and have an opportunity to view all available seat locations as well as the total price for the seats you select."

"The seat selection process will take place in the spring of 2011, with a seating plan released to the public in the very near future."
