ESPN News - NCAA rules Auburn's Cam Newton is eligible, no evidence that QB was aware his father violated rules

Seriously? So even then, his family was profiting from his play in college. There's got to be some sort of penalty somewhere. Even if they don't punish the kid, they should charge his father with extortion, and at the VERY least impose something on the school.

No surprise at all. Anyone else think the decision has a lot to do with it being Auburn's QB rather than say, UNT's?????

What a joke the NCAA is. Sure, he just happened to go play for Auburn and never knew Daddy got 200k+ for Junior's decision.

With men of god like this guy, no wonder we have more and more athiest.

Wait, does this mean the athiest is getting fatter?

Yep, and atheist are such pristine citizens. I certainly don't condone what his father has done, and he should be above this type of action, not only as a parent but also as a pastor, but this is a reminder that everyone is human. We all make mistakes or can be tempted to do the wrong thing. Real character comes from those that can resist the temptations and those that are a big enough person to face their issues and correct them.

Back on topic, why isn't Auburn being penalized?

Yes, it is one athiest being that eats all other athiests. It's initials are CBL. You should know this.

(it's not my fault. Faulty keyboard... at least that's my story)

So am I reading this wrong, or did the NCAA just give the OK on player representation and pay-for-play so long as the players themselves don't know about it?

I'm sure their judgement would have been different if Cam Newton was not a star player at a BCS school...

Yeah, I guess so. The problem is, he did know about it. He told the MSU coach recruiting him that he had to de-commit because the money was too much. Yeah, that sounds like he had no idea.

Cool...been a way from the board and I come back and you're still a douchey moron.

Makes me really feel home.

Do they have evidence his dad took money from Auburn, or just evidence that his dad tried to get money from Miss. St.? That might be the justification for the loophole they used/created, but it still stinks and this looks to be a very scary slippery slope.

Quoner??

I can't correct every typo -- just the punny ones. Otherwise, I'm willing to accept a position as the GMG ombudsman.

I need a recap of your credentials to determine whether I support this or not.
