A coaching staff always has a mix of young and older coaches. I was just reading of an Iowa GA who became the Tight Ends coach when a new head coach came in. That was McCarney after Hayden Fry arrived.

Since we have empirical evidence experienced coach have called him, there's no reason to think they have stopped because he is potentially offering a job to a young man whose work McCarney knows well.

And then there is the matter of budget? It was inferred that more monies would be allowed for assistants but the level of assistants I think Coach Mac goes for will need to be paid more.

No...I think he is just being realistic. Many on this board were questioning some of Dodge's hires...and others took the position that we have to trust the man to hire who he saw fit to help him coach the team.

Remind me again...how did most of those hires turn out?? :P

there is just no comparison between Mac and Dodge. Dodge was an outstanding high school coach, no doubt about that, but he had absolutely no experience as a college HC. Mac has been there and done that. I am skeptical of a lot of things but I won't be skeptical of the coaching staff that Coach Mac puts together. This board probably realizes that I know everything about everything but even Coach Mac knows more about football than me. I'll let him do his job and I'll enjoy the fruits of his labor in a winning program next year in a brand new kick-ass stadium.

As far as I am concerned, Coach Mac could put a neck brace on the corpse of Saddam Hussein and name him to coach his linebackers and I would be good with that.

Really? I thought the only evidence was the comments that Coach McCarney made at the press conference.

Maybe I missed something? Not being a smart a$$ here, if there is something that I missed, like credible sources that say THEY are calling HIM, then I would really like to see it.
