The students have been great this year. Keep it up and bring more!! I'm an old fart (according to my 15 year old), but got my parents (older farts) up for the game last night. For $7 there isn't a better deal in town.

I still think that's a bum count on attendance. I always want to see more people, but I just can't figure how that was less than 2,700 people tonight.

I agree, the Pit looked to be a good deal more than 1/4 full...

Look at the track record of all UNT sports for the past two decades. There have been some highs for sure, but overall our success has been dismal. IMHO, this is why the local Dentonites have not embraced their hometown team in force. 100,000+ people in Denton- we should be drawing a minimum of 5,000 for basketball games, regardless of the opponent. This has got to change, somehow, someway.

To achieve the types of numbers we would like to see for both football and basketball UNT Athletics needs to be seen in the city of Denton not as A thing to do, but as THE thing to do...

Somewhere along the line Mean Green Athletics has to be perceived as an understood "must see/must do" event...

Sustained competitive success will help with that...

We want to use Boise St. as model for athletic success, but they are barely averaging 2000 for a basketball team that is 6-0...

Football is THE thing to do in Boise and the university is working hard to make basketball the same thing...

Right now they are fighting the fact that the basketball team has no history of success...

We are in the same boat...

A run of NCAA tournament bids and a first round win would change all that... Fast...

One old fart's vision has gone so bad they mistakenly read UNT on the ticket takers uniform for TSA and turned around. Seriously, I was checking out Trey Norris (SGP) against Arlington Lamar (C. Cunningham) Will be at the GSU game.

The attendance for the Rice game was just under 3,500. There is no way there were almost 1,000 less people there last night. The student crowd was the same size if not bigger than it was at the Rice game. There were less people in the non-student sections, but a lot of those seats get counted either way because they are season tickets.

I think they do have an issue scanning all the ID's of the students. Someone told me that at the Tech game they were just waving people through for a bit and not scanning anything.

I have been to the last three games and I think the attendance figures have all been low in the box score. First off, I felt like we had more than 7100 at the Tech game. I assumed that we had around 8000 while I was looking around. I think the Rice game was probably closer to 4000 and the UTA game looked a little less crowded than the Rice game, but by about 200 fans or so. Really frustrating to see these numbers being announced. We are like the opposite of SMU Football Attendance counters!! :D

Obviously you've never seen 4,000 screaming basketball fans.

Can't come up for Tuesday games (have to work), but we have season tickets and drive up from the Mid-Cities for all of the other home games. As an "old fart," I don't get why the students don't fill the place up. It's free, great basketball and a great time! Attendance is getting better, but I don't know what needs to be done to get more butts in the seats. See you Thursday at the Pit!
