Sounds like he'd be a strong possibility.

He spent six years as the wide receivers coach at Iowa State. . . .

Grant's wide receivers at ISU broke every receiving record in the school's history. He had three players named first-team All-Big 12 in 2005 and one of his receivers became the all-time leading receiver in the history of ISU and another became the all-time leader in touchdown receptions.

Maybe, but the WMU Mustang record doesn't look that fantastic, but his previous success and some of the stats his guys are posting make up for it. I want McCarney to have guys he can work with, but I want them to be products of an interview process, not how Dodge brought in old buddies.

When you are the Head Coach and you have gone through the process and been hired, you can hand pick your staff. Coach Mac will not be talking to people that need to be interviewed, they will be people he has known for years and probably worked on the same staff at some time with them. Coach Mac is putting his reputation and his ass on the line with his hires. He should have sole discretion.

From FootballScoop-

North Texas: Our sources tell us Western Michigan wide receivers coach Mike Grant is interested in joining the Dan McCarney's staff at North Texas.

As long as he lets Stadford do "Hood Rat" things, im happy

With Darius, Stradford, Bynes, Taylor, Lewis, Chancellor, Dodge, Marcus Smith (Freshman); the new coach ought to have plenty of talent to work with (whether it be Hines, Grant, whomever). I do know that WMU has had some nice WR's, and has had two guys with at least like 60 or 70 catches for a few seasons.
