And for anyone who wants more regional games against C-USA schools... It won't be anywhere near the struggle to schedule them when we'd be scheduling DOWN to bring them in.

They may not play us now, but they'd damn sure play us if we had a conference leg up.

Could the McCarney hire already have a positive impact by helping us into a better conference?

It won't come automatically, he has to win. All the more reason to keep Chico. Less of a turnaround/adjustment time.

Agreed on the CUSA being more of a fan favorite destination and better fit, but MWC is stronger even without the Utah schools and TCU.

I don't see Houston ever heading west except for the Pac 10. SMU probably doesn't want the MWC, but Jones will flex his muscles and try to get them there anyway (he likes the West). Tulsa has a solid hoops program to present to the MWC, we have the market and alumni base. CUSA will look at us only if SMU leaves. MWC may look at us sooner.

What about the Big 12:) We are not the threat that TCU is and we have good bball upside with football future. Send Texas Tech, BYU and UNT to the North and you have:

BYU

UNT

ISU

Missouri

Kansas State

Kansas

Texas

A&M

Baylor

Oklahoma

Oklahoma State

Texas Tech

This forces Texas to independance and in returns TCU or Houston down the fold.

Go BOLD Mean Green.

SMUt wants into the MWC The MWC will probably go after Houston and a Dallas team. We need to give them a reason to take us over the phonies.

IF the Big 12 scenario played out, they would probably put OU in the North Division so they could have try and shoehorn a second TU/OU game, and pimp each of them to have a shot at the conference title.

This would be the best move for UNT. As much as I hate to say it .... Good Luck Ponies

Negative on that. We need to control our own destiny. Not rely on some douchers. I think we have more of an upside then they do. Newer statdium, closer to adding baseball, better basketball, newer facilities overall, and we are in a better location instead of crammed out of sight in University Park. All we need to do is win. Im think Jones will bolt from SMUt whenever he gets an offer, Hopefully, we will have a good coach and system solidly in place.

I listened in on the TCU news conference on their radio station and it appeared that the audience was somewhat not in favor of joining the Big East. Even the reporters were a little hostile to the move.

The TCU Prez said that travel would only be about 100 mile more, per team, than the current travel in the MWC.????

Here is my take on the situation. TCU was snubbed by the new and improved Big 12 and wanted out of CUSA with the future intentions of getting into a BCS conference. The MWC was a stepping stone up from CUSA and now the B.E. is the next logical step putting them into the BCS. I would look for TCU to jump from the B.E. the first chance they get to obtain another BCS conference alignment with more regional appeal.

Will TCU be good next year in football? They loose Andy Dalton, QB who is the spark plug of the offense and I really do not think their back up QB is that dynamic. Their BB program will get killed in the B.E.

Financially, more TV means more $$$. More bowl slots with higher payouts mean more $$$. Why not use the B.E. as a stepping stone like they have used CUSA and the MWC.

I think that it is money that fuels the train and would not NT do the same given the opportunity? Now with the possibility of NT moving up from the SBC to the MWC or CUSA the university has two major strong points.....a)BB and b)a new 30000 seat, expandable, stadium.

Want to clarify my "UNT is not TCU" comment for those that may have been butt-hurt by it.

This is roughly the budget TCU has to work with:

Football budget: $20.6 million

AD budget: $52.4 million

That's bigger than Tech, Kansas and many other large state schools. They are not in the big boy class but they'd have the biggest budget in the Big East. Can UNT afford the travel in a non-regional conference?

No, not at all could NT afford it. And watch the Big East get to claim TCU for this year like they did Louisville the year they announced so they get to add this year as having a BCS top 12 league?
