What UNT’s new place won’t have is character and history. At least not right away. That takes time.

UNT will have to beat a Baylor or win a Sun Belt title or two to begin building that feel that Fouts has now.

In their own way, each UNT coach, player and fan contributed to the history of Fouts through the years.

Now that is some good writing.

I am still in denial that we won't see the old gray lady anymore. I mean, I am really glad we are moving to a new place, but every memory I have of North Texas home games is in Fouts.

She was showing her age, her very advanced age, but she still tried to look nice for us. Remember how excited we were to get the jumbotron? Not half as excited as the players were to get rid of the sidewalk we called a field when the field turf came.

I would give a kidney, or both of TTG's, to be able to send her off with a win over KSU. sad.gif

Seriously, I won't miss Fouts at all. Lacked so much.

What I do wish is that the AD would have put together a special Fouts Brochure to be sold during the season and especially at the KSU game that depicted all of the meaningful games played there. Pictures of the great games and the many great players who played at Fouts. I'm sure the AD has many archieved photos that could be used. Even if they charged a token amount to cover the production cost, plus a small profit. Hell, they could be selling them on-line.

What what do I know about sales and promotions?

Wonder if we have a winning record at Fouts? It looks like it's pretty close at a glance, but I'm too lazy at the moment to calculate backing out the Irving/Dallas home games and such. Sadly, I guess I'm going to have to figure out a new GMG handle after this Saturday. :(

I spent many a great fall afternoon at Fouts and will remember those times for the rest of my life. I also spent a few Saturday's with the "old girl" that I would just as soon forget. But, for me, this Saturday will mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one for the Mean Green. Here's hoping the Saturday's spent going forward in the new stadium will also be special and memorable ones for Mean Green fans everywhere!

And, let's hope the new stadium will be packed for every home game in support of the Mean Green. That's a new tradition I think we can all support!

GO MEAN GREEN!
