Only one end zone will be used for offense Saturday at Wrigley Field for the Illinois-Northwestern game because of safety concerns, the Big Ten announced Friday, and the Chicago Cubs said the decision caught them by surprise.

The east end zone is just feet away from the right-field wall, and although there is padding, there still were concerns that players could be injured there.

What's their plan.....move to the other end, once a team is in The Red Zone?

And, I would assume if there's a long scoring play.....that end zone would have to be used.

Could make for some very interesting moments. So much for the "wind advantage" and needing to pick which way you want you offense to head in two out of the 4 quarters. This could get very interesting. Sorry for the fans in the unused end zone and nearby seating! May just need to watch this.

Anyone think they might try top move the game at the last minute?

Seriously, how will the resolve this?

The play will continue - the danger is in passes thrown to the back of the endzone. An interception is not likely to be run back and through the end zone into the wall.

If someone intercepts the ball, do they run to the 50 and turn around?

That's friggin funny... I busted a gut at work when I read this...
