Pre-Season Tournament

I know lots of teams seem to go to pre-season tournaments each year like the Great Alaska Shoot-out, etc.

OK, here's an idea I want to float. May be a pipe dream , but what about a pre-season tournament each year between UNT, TCH, UTA and SMU to determine Metroplex bragging rights for the year? Tournament could be held at either a neutral site or rotated between the campuses where each school hots (and makes the revenue off that) once every four years.

I know, I know...hard to schedule, but don't you think it would be a home run for the fans and really set things up for the basketball season. UTA is building a new arena, so when it's complete, the tournament could be set up.

What do you think? Anyone else think it would be Metroplex Basketball Madness?????

Some of you who know the details of this to a much great extent than I ever care to know, chime in here and let's discuss this idea. It would be a "don't miss" event in the Metroplex I would think....what say you?

I don't know who TCH is but, I bet SMU wouldn't go for it. Since UTA and UNT already play each other every year, we would just need to convince TCU and SMU. Maybe you let them host it the first 2 years as an incentive.

I like the idea. Even if this doesn't come about, I'd like to see North Texas try to get into a tournament. These games don't count against your total game limit. It'd be a good chance to pick up a little exposure since most the games are on TV somewhere. I don't know what we'd have to do to get in one, but I'd love to see North Texas play in one.

When's the last time we were in a preseason tournament? - Nevermind. Forgot we played in Henson Tournament in 07-08.

It would be a great thing for the Metroplex, but after hearing about our crowd on Tuesday, I bet smu and TCU would be scared shirtless to let something like that get started. A frog friend of mine told me that maybe a hundred mustangs made the long trip over to Daniel Meyer the other night. Pretty pathetic.

Our Student Section goal should be to strive for that Gonzaga crowd that turns out for every game in the Kennel. We sounded as crazy as they were on TV the other night so now it is about sustainability. Need to ratchet it up early and loud on Tuesday - never let Rice get out of the box.

So what was the "total" number of people that attended that game?? Scratch that......found out it was 2700. Yeah...that's a real indicator of a DFW Duel.
