Two other games tonight:

Arkansas State vs. Missouri State @ Knoxville, TN

UL - Monroe vs. Iowa

ASU is the low seed in the NIT Tip-Off classic (Missouri State is the 6)...if ASU wins they'll take on the winner of Tennessee/Belmont...lose and play the loser.

Great opportunity for ULM. Iowa is not good...went 10-22 last season and is fresh off a 10 point loss at home to South Dakota State. If ULM plays the way they did against Tech they'll win.

Any feeling on ASU's chances against Missouri State?

Ugghh...pains me to look at their roster. I really wanted Nafis Ricks 2 years ago.

Really good, balanced starting line-up...Ricks on the ball, a pure shooter on one wing, a do everything guy on the other...a insidde-outside Desmond Yates-like guy at the 4 and a big, slow white guy with touch who scores efficiently with range to the 20'9" at the 5.

Don't recognize many of the bench names...looks like they brought back only one reserve who did much last season and the bench was pretty quiet in their opening win over Oral Roberts

ASU hung tough with Ole Miss...but with their starters all going over 30 minutes. I think the key will be ASU bench guard Daniel Bryant...MSU doesn't have much to match up with Bryant who is very capable of big games.

Bryant goes for 15+ and ASU wins

Transitives are mostly guesswork and silliness, especially at this point in the year. But Oral Roberts is looking pretty damn good at Tulsa right now on ESPN. Missouri State may be even better than we expect.

Looks like we were the only ones able to carry the conference banner tonight:

ASU - 71

Mizzou State - 81

ULM - 40

Iowa - 68

The box from the ASU/MSU game isn't up yet, but according to the recap ASU fell behind by as many as 24 in the second half, but then rattled off a 20-0 run.

I still stand by my statement Iowa sucks...and my reprieve comes in the fact that ULM played without Fred Brown, arguably their best player. Not sure of the cause behind his absence, but if its extended this season is shot for ULM. Like, more-so.

Check for the Adam's apple.

According to the ULM board coach Richard left Fred Brown behind in Monroe for the Iowa game to make sure he doesn't fall behind with his classwork and will do so on another ULM road trip. It was stated that this move is in no way disciplinary.

I've really got to commend Keith Richard for this move if Brown is/was an academic risk. It shows me that he knows exactly the problem he's stepping into and is make an effort at a long term culture change. It's gonna be a struggle for ULM from a basketball stand point, but hopefully that program will reap the fruits of this move over the next few seasons.
