Venebles is still hot a head coach to this day so this is all a moot point. Plenty of highly successful coordinators have been terrible head coaches so until he wins something as a head coach there is no argument to be made here. He was never coming here as a DC so why are we bringing his Clemson DC success up?

I believe the discussion was about hiring him as a head coach not as a DC

That is my point. We have zero indication he would be or would have been a successful head coach.

No, Phil Bennett at SMU wasn’t either.

You can’t say with any degree of certainty that he would’ve been a good head coach until he has been a head coach somewhere
