Seriously? That seriously brings down the pool of potential hires, and eliminates any with 1-A head coaching experience. A Sun Belt team is not going to hire away a head coach presently working in a better conference. The only candidates left would be assistants and 1-AA (and lower) head coaches.

Evaluate why a head coach was fired, and determine if that reason is likely to be a problem here. If not, that should not disqualify that coach from being a candidate.

RV would not be taking nearly as big a gamble on hiring a proven 1-A head coach as he would by dipping into the 1-AA ranks.

So he should bet his job on a guy that has never been fired, thus never having the opportunity to learn from that experience?

Fran had never been fired before A&M. Leach never before Tech. Leavitt never before USF, Dodge never before UNT.

Dont limit ANY candidate before talking with them 1st.
