but not here. rv is the one getting a second chance, and should not bet his career on any coach fired from his last job regardless of the reason.

Seriously? That seriously brings down the pool of potential hires, and eliminates any with 1-A head coaching experience. A Sun Belt team is not going to hire away a head coach presently working in a better conference. The only candidates left would be assistants and 1-AA (and lower) head coaches.

Evaluate why a head coach was fired, and determine if that reason is likely to be a problem here. If not, that should not disqualify that coach from being a candidate.

RV would not be taking nearly as big a gamble on hiring a proven 1-A head coach as he would by dipping into the 1-AA ranks.

So he should bet his job on a guy that has never been fired, thus never having the opportunity to learn from that experience?

Fran had never been fired before A&M. Leach never before Tech. Leavitt never before USF, Dodge never before UNT.

Dont limit ANY candidate before talking with them 1st.

      Are other team eyeing Coach Hodge?

      All depends on what your definition of move-worthy programs is, there will be plenty that will be looking at what he has accomplished at NT. I guarantee you, he is on a lot of programs radar. You don't believe that other schools aren't interested in a coach that keeps having to replace most of the starting five every year and still wins plus 20 and has difficulty even scheduling games because no one wants to play his team. He may not have the name that impresses perennial top 25 teams, but that only leaves about 300 teams that would seriously consider him as their next HC. Unfortunately about 150 of those teams can pay more and have a lot more fan and financial support. I don't even think his slow down defensive oriented play is going to be that big of problem. Colleges want to win more than play a more favored brand of basketball consisting of more scoring and uptempo offenses. There are AD's out there that are going to wonder what he can do with copious NIL money and a school that actually supports basketball.

      It was Dixie State Univ in Utah until the name change in 2022. Dixie State University changed its name to Utah Tech University on July 1, 2022. The name change was intended to distance the university from the Confederacy and the term "Dixie".

      Texas State to PAC 12

      He mentions Texas is an important area for several reasons and implies more than one school. St. Marys offers another great basketball program along with Gonzaga. This may get interesting as we're in the "possible" category now along with UTSA....

      2025 UNT Football Schedule

      What are these marketing/sales teams you speak of????? Do they actually exist? Has anyone really seen or heard from them? They should all be re-assigned to getting students out to games! As for the schedule itself, we got a break with no Memphis or Tulane this year. 6 very winnable games (Lamar, W. Mich, S. Ala, Charlotte, Rice, Temple) 3 moderate games (USF, UTSA, UAB) 3 tough games (Wash St, Army, Navy)
