Eight conference games to be added, plus we know that Houston will be Sep 10. Looking for a Sep 3 opponent. We have a game at Tulsa to be scheduled. so the only unknown opponent is Sep 3. I say schedule Sam Houston State or Stephen F. Austin or Southwest Texas State University-San Marcos Campus.

Why wouldn't Sept. 3rd be a home game?

To maximize the full exposure of our new football stadium on a national basis I wonder if a weeknight game (not a Tuesday night like Boise and La Tech last night) might be something worth looking into?

If we actually play UH for the stadium debut we will get some fantastic H-Town exposure with those we need to get the exposure with. Even if it wasn't UH who helped us open that stadium we still would get similar exposure if we can get a deal for statewide television for that game. Nothing wrong with our first 2 home games in our new football palace being televised, right?

'Fantastic H-Town exposure'? Doubtful, since the Chronicle caters mainly towards UT and A&M. Not to mention, it took them over five hours to post the Dodge firing on their site, after it broke. The local Radio Stations down here will do a decent job, since Sumlin is on a couple of them down here weekly. Wouldn't hurt either if the UH Game was televised on FSN Houston/Dallas/Southwest as well, on a Thursday or Saturday night. I may contact Tom Franklin here in the next couple of months to see if he has any ideas, even though he has no control over it.

Well, I should have said "fantastic exposure" from a FBS school's point of view.

UT and A&M? Funny thing, but they were getting all the exposure down there in the 60's when I was a kid growing up in the Greater Houston area. Some things never change and that is just one of those things that will never change. It helped in more ways than one when a late 1870's Texas legislature put those 2 under the Permanent University Fund, and that's for damn $ure.

It will never change down here, since there's only one Paper. The only good thing about the Chronicle is their High School coverage, even though one of their beat writers is a Sooner! lol And, it wouldn't hurt to kind of promote the School/Football Team like DD did ten years ago, when he came down here on a yearly basis. Even when NT is on the radio down here some years back, Conroe affiliate I believe, it wasn't posted on the Radio Listings for College Games on the Radio. After hounding the Sports Editor (at the time, Fred Faour) about it, I found out that the Radio/TV Sports writer (David Barron) is anti-North Texas, since he went to High School with Corky Nelson. He still, to this day, does not list NT in his weekly article if they're televised. One day, I'll run into this weekend warrior at a Tri-Star Show and lay it on him!

And didn't David Barron have a prominent role with Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine at one time?

Yep, he still does. And he brags about it in his articles. Life must be good for the Smith County numpty, since all he does is write one meaningless article a week for the Chronicle. Needless to say, he'll HAVE to mention NT next Season when UH plays them...since he kisses Jim Nantz' rear!
