Leavitt is suing the school for breach of contract, claiming the university's investigation was "biased, flawed and legally unsupportable." Leavitt is seeking to recoup about $7.1 million. The university paid him $66,667 when it fired him with cause.

"I want the truth to get out," Leavitt said after the hearing. "It's very important to me. It's very important to my family. What was alleged is not true."

Just found this article from around the same time period.

Jim Leavitt reflects on life after USF

This past weekend, the USF Bulls played Stony Brook in the season opener. It was the first game the Bulls ever played, with(out) Jim Leavitt as their head coach.

"I didn't know how tough it would be, but it was tough," Leavitt admitted. "It was hard. I watched a little bit of South Florida, and then I turned it off. It was kind of hard to watch, you miss it so much."

It becomes very clear, after talking with Jim Leavitt for just a few minutes, that he still has the fire and the passion, for coaching.

"I had some high school teams that reached out to me," said Leavitt about job inquiries. "It was close, I thought about it, because I thought, shoot, if I just go out and coach, that's great... high school, college, or the NFL, or whatever, it's not going to be much different with the passion I have for the game."

OK, now if anyone EVER questioned if we'd have a real chance at hiring Leavitt, the fact that he's contemplated taking a HS job should tell you all you need to know. I REALLY, REALLY hope Leavitt is, at the very least, interviewed for this job.

"They're fighting hard to keep us from the evidence," Florin said after the hour-long hearing today in downtown Tampa. "The records we're seeking are going to back up the fact that there were other reasons behind his termination."

And these other reasons should be the real discussion on this board. Why did USF want him gone so bad that it would use this situation to it's benefit? Too much power like Leach? Any upcoming large payouts in his contract like Leach? Were they upset with the conference record and did they think that Leavitt had taken them as far as he could, and they just didn't want to pay him?

My understanding is that he will be announced as a HC but not at UNT. I dont think we have enough money to get into a bidding war.
