Glad he is president while we search for a new coach:

"During the past three and a half years the football program has not met expectations. If there is anything my experience in higher education has taught me, it is that change is hard. But with change comes new opportunities.

We believe that UNT will benefit from a strong football program, which is one of the reasons why we are building a new stadium that will open in time for the 2011 football season. I want to report that support for that stadium is very strong and that tickets and boxes are selling well.

I believe that progress toward our ultimate goal as a major research university focused on student success will require increased strength in what I have called the three As: Academics, Arts and Athletics." --- Rawlins
