RV...Don't forget ALBURN'S long Look at the Master Johnny Jones for Head Basketball coach!!! If you want to continue to be viewed as the best AD UNT has had in a long time you'd best Multitask with UNT's BOR!!!!

Please I beg you, get ahead of the bell curve on this one!!! Johnny Jones has brought our program out of the Green Grave Yard!!! It's time for you and the BOR to "MAN UP"!!! This one won't cost you 78 Million to pull off either.

When will people ever learn that college coach's contract are almost completely one sided. JJ just signed a contract extension, signing him to a longer contract does absolutely nothing but tie down the school. Now if NT wants to increase his compensation that is another thing but adding years to the contract would only add to NT's exposure.

All NT fans want JJ to stay and keep winning. With the recruiting class he is putting together, he is certainly more likely to stay but if a LSU or like program comes after him, it is doubtful NT could keep him no matter what they are paying.

The issue isn't length of the contract. It boils down to his salary. I think JJ deserves a pretty significant increase in compensation if we win the conference and go to the tournament again. I think his eyes are set at LSU if the opportunity and offer ever came. So my hope is LSU wins and wins and wins even more so they don't fire their coach. That will prevent them with any contact with JJ.

This year, I hope they lose once and win out on the rest of the season. Good for our RPI.

Don't see it happening, though. This could be a TERRIBLE season for them.

Agree with increasing his compenstation over extending the lenght of the contract. This does two things, 1) it makes it harder for a higher mid-level team or lower/down-on-its-luck power team to pull him away; and 2) increases the base compenstation of the position so that if he leaves we already have a history of paying well (or at least better) so we can go after the next coach less hamstrung by salary.

Can't wait for November to get here!!!

Thanks for everyone's expert opinion. If it's better salary NOW then get the BOR on it. We all know what JJ has done and not an easy task!!! Just look at FB side of things to figure that one out. We know JJ's been a target, and we all know he can recruit and coach!!!

Don't want the next Hayden Fry so to speak to leave and go into collage basketball HOF. I know JJ has some work to do to attain that goal, but I bet it's on his list of long term "to do list". Would be an accomplishment and I'd rather see him do it hear than somewhere else. BB and Golf are the 1+ for another conference to ask us to join and most folks would have thought FB would be our main 1+ for better conference. JJ still has work to do on that front, but he's the man for the JOB!!!

Johnny Jones recently got a contract extension and a raise, which means he's making 75K less than UL's new coach who has yet to coach a game. He's making less than half of what Ken McDonald is making at Western...and Johnny has won two championships.

Keep some money in the bank to pay the man in March and April when the other schools start sniffing around again.

I don't know that the $20 a day that I slide under the door to his office is gonna cut it long term. So far, that big bag of money that I'd been planning to find laying on the ground hasn't appeared.
