RV also mentioned there are some clauses in TD's contract that could shield the university some financially.

When asked if he would hire a HS coach again, he said "I never say never," and then said, "but I can tell you right now that this hire will not come from the High School ranks."

Wrong.

Say never. Scream it from the rooftops. Etch it in the foundation of the new stadium. PUT IT IN THE SCHOOL CHARTER.

The next time anyone at North Texas hires a coach that lacks any coaching experience beyond the high school level, that person should be FIRED IMMEDIATELY. No exceptions.

Say never. Say it. I dare you. I double dog dare you.

I don't know how many times this school has to learn that lesson. Maybe someday it works out for someone else, somewhere else. Good for them. We're done pouring salt in our eye.

RV said that he expects Mike Canales to apply for the job. He reiterated that this is a NATIONAL search, and they are looking for coaches with a PROVEN RECORD, whether they are currently in the business or not, or a highly successful assistant. He wants a coach that will be involved in the community and visible to people, and involved in everyday life in Denton with alumni, Mean Green Club, and just residents in general.

That might explain why he does not want Leach.

He's never said he doesn't want Leach. Lots of us assume that based on what he says he wants, but he's never said he doesn't want Leach.

No offense, but do these guys know what they're talking about?

They mentioned Mike Canales as being here "the last few years."

They talked about the buyout the school would have to pay if Canales were let go.
