Jim Harris: Quick Glance Says Leach Should Be Re-Employed This Time Next Year

A good read, but one that only serves to reinforce my belief that we'd have no shot at Leach even if we stood united in our attempt to hire him.

"We want it to go to trial as soon as possible and they [Texas Tech] want to delay it as long as they can," said Leach, contending that he has not been paid for coaching the Red Raiders in the 2009 season and that the university fired him one day before it was to owe Leach $2.4 million based on a new contract Texas Tech and Leach signed after the 2008 season.

"You've got Craig James, who was dissatisfied with his son's playing time," Leach said. "He was twisting coaches' arms, and when that didn't work he went higher up ... [Craig James] received preferential treatment in college and expected the same for his son."

      Sonny Dykes?

      I mentioned it in the thread regarding other scores around Texas, but in the end it is SMU/TCU and not NT related. That's your reason we aren't discussing it, and the same reason SMU fans are on our board and we aren't on their's. They have this deep desire for approval from others and we don't care. I did see it as I had switched over from watching Ark/Auburn to check the score. SMU kicked off and TCU returned it for a TD. The refs called TCU for holding and it was a terrible call. This was in the first half when the game was still close. Taking six points off the board was costly at that time and Dykes was pissed. He was warned a couple of times by the refs drawing penalties, but he wouldn't shut up. Maybe he saw the writing on the wall, but he also had every right to be pissed. TCU folded after that.

      I think with Svoboda they are looking/hoping for the second coming of Josh Allen. He has the size and that's it. I think I would run with their freshman out of Southlake from here on out. The KO return: Tyler King was the return man and is a transfer out of TX Tech. They talked about him on the broadcast. He played HS ball in Houston for Alief Taylor and was a four star recruit listed as the No. 59 WR in the '22 class by ESPN and the No. 61 player in the state of Texas and, as we all saw, a real burner. How did we not get a hold of this kid? He only caught two balls in his career at Tech and was never a factor in the passing game vs. us, so he may be a poor route runner. Just a guess. He runs like he just pissed off his Mama. Shane Whitter #7 delivered that hit and had a very strong game for us.
