I think someone should start a poll with these names on it for voting... hint, hint!

Would certainly make it easier to get a pulse of who we all would like to have as our next coach.

Pretty boring list outside of a couple of names. Let's think bigger first before relegating ourselves to assistants at other programs.

How about Les Miles then? LSU fans seem none to happy with his style of winning, despite his record.

It looks like a solid list to me. I'm not sure how big of coach North Texas can get. No current coach (Div 1) will leave their current job to come to UNT. And lots of good hires have been made by picking up and coming assistant coaches (of course, picking the right one is hard).

I agree, yet Sumlin and Briles have worked for the coogs, Dana Dimel didn't.

Lets just make the right hire for the right reasons

Not impressed with that list? Add Todd Dodge and his resume prior to UNT to it and see how it compares.

No, I'm not. It's boring. I don't care about past coaching searches...just this one.

We have $100 million worth of Athletics facilites across the highway, with the new stadium as the crown jewel, and we should attempt to make as big a splash with this hire as possible. We have a golden opportunity to change the face of NT Athletics here. I don't hate the candidates on Phillips' list, I just think there are a number of higher profile hires that we can explore making before getting down to most of the guys on this list. The majority on that list are uninspiring and would do little to create a buzz about NT if hired here.

Under the discussion on Trooper Taylor, he also alluded to Gus Malzahn. A very interesting suggestion, but I imagine there will be resistance to anyone who has coached in the high school ranks within the last 10 years.

I doubt Malzahn would want to come here at this point.

Holgorsen would be my first choice with Fuentes a close second. No to Fran and Leach.

Agree about Holgorsen. For some reason, he seems quirky enough to fit in at North Texas. We could call the student section "Holgorsen's Heroes".

HAHAHAHA, no thanks. Not only is he extremely lucky to win the games he does, he is a grade A ass clown.
