And here is the part that concerns UNT the most...

"In July, The Minnesota Daily reported that the University had sold only half of the student tickets for the second-year of TCF Bank Stadium.

Days later, a Daily reporter asked Brewster how he felt about the factual statistic.

'In talking with President [bob] Bruininks and Joel Maturi, I don't think there's any slump in our ticket sales,' Brewster said at Big Ten media days in Chicago. 'We think we're going to be sold out.'

The stadium has not been sold out for a single game this season, including a hyped matchup with Southern California on Sept. 18."

We have a new stadium on the way, but if the program is in shambles no one will be in the seats for year two of that new building...

Minnesota's new campus stadium is one of the nicest in the Big Ten and they can't even sell out against USC...

Think about that...

Trust me, I think there are so many NT alums, Mean Green fans, Dentonites, Metroplex-ites and those who live out of the DFW area who have come to Fouts Field for so many decades that they will show in Year 1 just to see what they've been missing, ie, up-close "easy on the eyes" football with acutal accoustics in our new palace whereas "Fouts Like" crowd noise will no longer exit the north endzone and end up somewhere between Krum and Sanger.

Our main deal is to get the right coach for this moment in time at UNT and Denton. If he's a successful short termer (6 years) a la Hayden Fry that would be fine with me, just so we follow up with an equally talented coach to carry the torch kinda' like Boise State has so uniquely done.

This new Mean Green HFC IMHO will be a difficult choice to make for Rick V and his committee. I think our chances of getting a true name coach is about 50/50, but one can hope for a surprise, right? And if we were to luck into a true "name coach" it would sure need to be the right one to fit our situation.

A new stadium at the Mean Green Village will get us names on our new coach's prospective list that we may not have ever believed possible.

GMG!

I completely agree...

My contention was that none of them will show up in Year 2 unless the program gives them a legitimate reason for doing so other than basic curiosity...

I can't freaking believe Jeff Horton is the interim coach! I've got a friend who played linebacker for him at UNLV; said the guy is a total douche.

But, the article made Brewster sound like a total douche as well, so it's not surprising they'd end up on the same coaching staff.

Jeff F'ing Horton. Unbelievable.

The problem with that job is that Minnesota still believes that they are relevant in the Big 10. News flash: It ain't 1935 anymore, and it's not ever going to be again.
