Dodge Will Be Fired....

To clarify lets say fired = the announcement that Dodge won't be head coach.

I fully expect RV to make the announcement and let TD coach out the rest of season. We're not going to tar and feather the guy, we just don't want him running the team.

At the very least RV needs to do what Minnesota did. Inform TD that he won't be back next season and make it public. At that point it is a foregone conclusion and you can still publicly and actively look for the new head coach and TD can prob still coach the rest of the season out.

No. A thousand times No. Nothing good can come of firing someone and then letting them have day to day contact with the team they will not be coaching the next season. We have already seen this occur once and have heard about the split that occurred the next couple of seasons.

Coach Dodge seems to be a good person, but you just cannot afford to leave him in the locker room if he knows he is gone after this year. Make the break clean. If you reassign him, reassign him outside the football program, and better yet outside the AD.

I see no merit in terminating Dodge before his successor has been hired. I don't see any current coach on the staff as a valid candidate, so nothing is gained by an interim coach.

The problem is firmly RV's now. He is frankly lucky to still be AD after the Dodge hire and another bad decision could spell the end for him as well. RV has made some very good recent decisions in hires for the non-revenue sports and hopefully he can do the same in football. RV certainly has plenty of time to come up with a solid replacement HC.
