McCoy not listed in the participation report. W O W

Unless there was a discipline issue, this is pretty unbelievable. Go back and look at the play from the LaLa game where he fought off the block and put the LaLa running back out for the game . He is a man on this team.

I really hope there is a discipline thing, otherwise not geting this guy playing time is completely unforgivable.

The guy is ex-military, isn't he?

Don't they generally made discipline and respect for chain of command a part of the training there?

Good point. Not a guy you would expect to be in trouble.

He has to beg to get into the FAU game, and promptly makes a play.

Any real idea as to why McCoy is not playing? I wouldn't jump to a discipline issue unless I had reason...which I don't and I am not aware of any announcement from the team.

I, too, think McCoy has been a very good player when he does hit the field and wonder why he is not getting more time. But, sure don't want to jump to any conclusions as to why. Anyone have any inside scoop?

BTW...I know that no one here jumped to the conclusion of a discipline problem being the reason. I just don't want that to "rumor out" as I don't think there has been any announcement of such. One never knows, he may have a injury that flares up from time to time making his availability uncertain. However, would love to see him in on a few more plays each game.

KRAM1, I distinctly remember reading somewhere (Tasty's Todd Dodge show report?) where Dodge was quoted as saying McCoy would start. I went to the game today with the hopes of at least seeing that, but was disappointed in that expectation (as well as in pretty much everything else but the players' effort). I was yelling "Play McCoy" from the stands until my wife turned to me and said I was being obnoxious. Sorry that I was, but just can't figure out why we're not playing the guy. That (lack of playing McCoy) remved any doubts I had about replacing Dodge ASAP. Sorry to say that, because I like Dodge personally, just don't "get" him anymore. Of course, it could be that being an Army veteran, I like the idea of an Army veteran doing well, but honestly, it seems like McCoy had been the only one so far who has brought any real pressure on the opponents QB, until Kelvin Jackson canme up with those 2 sacks (late) last night. Anyway, it's really becoming disappointing seeing us give up those opening possession touchdowns in every game. Seems like it might be time to try SOMETHING different.

      Sonny Dykes?

      I am stunned, there's not a thread about this. Has anyone ever witnessed a coach so unhinged, that he's thrown out of the game before? I know SMU hanging 66 on TCU, has to be very painful for some on here, but this is being talked about nationally, but for some reason ignored here. Dykes could be in trouble in Cowtown. Just two years ago, their magical season ends with Georgia putting 65 on them, and now SMU hangs 66 on the Frogs. It will be interesting, to see how TCU plays against Kansas this Saturday. SMU had a near sellout for the TCU game, and has Florida State coming to Ford this Saturday, that's crazy to even get your head wrapped around...the Seminoles and Mustangs?

      Agreed we looked fast and the green popped off the turf. It was cool seeing Wyoming’s traditional brown and yellow and white combo. After all those years living in mountain west country I couldn’t get over watching the Cowboys in Denton against our Green. Nice fan turnout from the gold. GMG

      Sell Out Next Week?

      I think everyone knows this. It doesn’t make the practice any less dumb. With everything being electronic nowadays they could easily announce the actual attendance. Last night was a jarring example. There weren't more than 22-23K. And what annoys me the most is because of the announced attendance, last night is officially the 5th best attended game in stadium history, which is total BS.

      Did we dump the 3-3-5 for good?

      I mean I’ve spent lots of time talking about this defense (which I do not love) but there aren’t too many gaps. The scheme accounts for gaps, but relies on excellent linebacker play to go along with excellent safety play. For me, it always comes down to the defensive line. In 2013, we ran a 4-3 base and Flusche et al generated pressure with that front four and it made the whole group very good. The next year with the same base we were leaky. The difference was the line. Reffett had a solid defense with Nate Brooks and Kemon Hall at corner and would bring LB blitzes (to make up for the lack of great line play) and it worked. The next year they struggled as the corners couldn’t man up and the pressure was late. Littell’s defenses post Reffet were awful until he lucked into the Murphy twins and upset top 25 UTSA. Mazin Richards helped him get enough to get to the title game the next year. Last year? Awful line play. This year? Better line play. It’s always about line play no matter how many you put out there. Get pressure on the QB or else you lose.
