Good news - the clever little bugger finally took our bait last night, after five days of nipping the lure and not going into the trap.

Bad news - she escaped the cage. I don't know if I didn't wire it properly, if she got some human help, or if she is just strong and smart. The trapper says he is trying to catch a big male down in Corinth who is capable of tearing open a trap to escape - and has done so repeatedly! At least ours just opens the door.

We have been trying different bait and finally found something she liked, but now she may never go in again. The trapper says that once trapped, most can't be again. Hopefully, she got out really easily so wasn't frightened so much she won't try it again.

At least the trapper is still letting me do the work so he doesn't have to charge us.

I hope they don't catch the little booger and then try to tie the whole project up in federal court with claims that it is home to animals that are going to be displaced or something. At this point, I wouldn't put anything past them.

Of course, Bush is placing more conservative judges that would tell such folks to just go back where they came from. rolleyes.gif
