watched the game last night when I got home from the fair. Hyndeman is an excellent coach and what a turnaround this year. 18 game unbeaten streak... crazy.

Ah yes, its a great time to be a fan of our beloved superhoops...err, toros....err, red stripes...?

Well, its a great time to be a soccer fan in Dallas. I semi-participated in the axe Hyndman brigade of last season, but whether the protest had anything to do with it or not, that win turned the season around, as well as everyone's thinking about Schellas. Here's hoping we can ride that wave through the playoffs and maybe steal away the Supporter's Shield as well. Wish I could get to Toronto for the big show, but its just not feasible this year.

We have a decent chance at the Shield, but that's pretty much going to require winning out the last 3, two of them on the road. Beckham is back in form for the Galaxy and Salt Salt is on a tear. It will be tough but it's doable.

LA controls their own destiny for the Supporters Shield. FCD controls its own destiny for second place. We pass RSL with a win at Rio Tinto Stadium in two weeks. To get the supporters shield we need to win out, and hope that LA either ties or loses to Philly (Away) or Colorado (Home). Unfortunately, if we do not get the Supporters Shield, we are going to have to get to the MLS cup final to get a champions league birth. I personally think we have a much better shot at winning the MLS cup than the supporters shield.

I think you're correct on all accounts. Gotta hope for LA to slip up and at least tie Philly. If they win their next two they'll clinch no matter how badly we might beat them in a couple of weeks. Road or home games don't seem to matter to this team much, we've shown we just don't lose anywhere.

I'm sure you've all heard of 3rd degree, but if you haven't checked out his site lately he's got a good write up of all the records this team has broke this year. I've seen every game this season, but when you read this you'll wonder how we're not running away with the supporter's shield at this point.

Also, my friend's got a good write up on his blog about our odds for the supporter's shield.

As far as the CONCACAF Champions league goes, Seattle Sounders FC clinched the first of four spots for USA clubs the other night when they won the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The three remaining spots go to the Supporters Shield winner, and the two MLS Cup Finalists. I am not positive about this, but I believe if we finish in second place for the supporters shield AND LA makes the MLS Cup Final, then we would get a champions league birth in the "supporter shield" spot because LA gets their birth in another spot. Not sure though.

We can solve the whole thing by just winning the supporters shield, and the MLS cup.

Coffee and TV, do you know if that is the case for the champions league qualification?

What is FC Dallas? Do they play a sport?

Blasphemy from the mouth of a non-believer...off with his head!

What is making fun of soccer?

Oh yeah, not funny since like 1992.

You are correct from what I understand. Friends of mine are big into CCL, but to me its just extra games that tire the team out during the season. I think between it and the US Open Cup, Columbus could very well be upset in the first round.

Meanwhile, Philly not doing their job right now.

If you plan on attending an away match get your travel plans in order. We're going to be up against Salt Lake. Its just a matter of whether its on halloween weekend or the week after.

We have an outside shot at the Supporter's Shield now. But LA will have to lose this week, FC Dallas needs two wins in a row, and they have to score +3 goals over what LA scores over the next two weeks.

So yeah... book your flight to Salt Lake.

Flyer, you are 100% right, broken down a little more, this is what I see the situation to be. Assuming we make to LA still having a shot at the supporters shield, they will have lost by at least one goal, and we will have one by at least one goal, which will tie the goal differential...so a 1-0 win in LA will suffice to win the shield...IF they lose to Colorado, and we beat RSL at Rio Tinto Stadium.

For those of you who are fans of the Concacaf Champions League, it is of the utmost importance that we at least move past RSL in the stadings to raise our chances of qualification (in addition to hosting the SECOND leg of the playoff series). RSL has to play away to a good Colorado team in the final game of the season, but because a tie against RSL would put them two ahead of us, it is necessary to win against RSL or LA to move into second place.
