I don't know, work ethic and commitment to a cause or something. But he'd have to produce while he stayed. The worst part of his time at coach isn't the losses, it's fact that so many of them were so close and due to poor discipline, needless penalties, or mental mistakes. I think we have the players to be successful but I don't think that we have the coaches to lead them, not as a whole anyways.

It really wouldn't surprise me if TD had a job in the college coaching ranks. I know it sounds crazy but for some reason I can see a D2 or FCS school looking at him for a HC position.. If not that then being an assistant or QB coach of some sorts is a real possibility.

I'm not certain that Dodge will be fired. He could just be reassigned since he has another year on his contract. Todd has been a good ambassador for North Texas; he just can't win.

That way, it wouldn't matter whether you hired the new coach early or late. Or, if you allowed an interim coach to finish the season since Todd would just be reassigned.

I doubt Dodge is fired, just reassigned as we did with Matt Simon. But it won't happen until UNT is no longer in the SBC race or Bowl eligible, regardless of losses.

You also have to compare apples to apples with our losses this season to see how we compare with teams previously played. Clemson, Army, Rice, and FAU all lost yesterday. We just don't have a good team again this year and the teams we have played are not Top 25 caliber.

Fixed it for you. Let's not forget the complete lack of competitiveness the first 2 years of his stay.

Todd Dodge will resign. ... I would have to wonder why Dodge would want to stay.

I don't think he will resign. Between the stadium and his son's two more years of eligibility, he has big reasons to stay if RV decides to keep him on.

He woudl have a great Texas high school job waiting for him any time he quits, no matter how things are at UNT.

Canales is the man I think!

...we have Canales right now, and so far it doesn't look like it has helped much. His offence has won a grand total of ONE game. The end result that matters, which is wins and losses, hasn't seen any improvment since his arrival. Let's just look at yesterday. Short yardage situations, QB in the shotgun, no formations under center. Last drive, we literally run it down their throats , and then once we're inside the 5, we put the game on Riley's arm with 3 passing plays? Offense snaps the ball with 13 seconds on the play clock as we're trying to run the clock down at the end of the half?

He hasn't shown me the 180* turn around I think is needed here to make me feel he should stay on as head coach. With the fee coming into effect, the new stadium, if TD isn't going to return, which I think is a near forgone conclusion at this time, we need to make a splash with this hire and bring in someone with a track record.
