Seems an early offer for a JUCO...and a quick commit if the kid is a star in waiting.

That said, all faith in JJ...Tramiel, Shorter and DeGrate were all early JUCO commits and they all worked out pretty well.

Welcome aboard, Brandon!

I'm not going to lie, I'm still scratching my head a little over the timing on this one (and Tramiel wasn't an early commit, we got him after the season in time for the April signing period).

But if the guys think Brandon Walton was someone they wanted enough to pursue and take a verbal this early... Then I'm glad we got him, and I look forward to seeing what he can do on the court.

I hope he scores 20 a game at Casper this year and makes us look like fools for ever even remotely questioning him. Welcome to North Texas, Brandon.

His Casper bio says he was a McDonald's All American nominee.

Casper

Walton was 1 of 88 players in the state of California to be named to the list. List full of DI recruits including the Wear brothers

Amazing this guy committed after the gurus on this board questioned his ability and then Troy Phillips bashed them for doing so.

Could it be this kid hasn't heard of or seen this forum or Troy Phillips???

People usually aren't as important as they think.

Brett had some more stuff on Brandon. MGB

Some interesting stuff, including this quote from his JUCO coach.

One comment Walton's coach Joel Davidson made stuck with me. He said that a lot of combo guards are combo guards because they don't really play either spot very well. Davidson said that isn't the case with Walton, who has the shooting ability and the ball-handling ability to play either spot well.
