Maybe even a 7:00 PM kick-off which may mean it will be on regional TV?

Per our Rice game at Fouts it is still a bit warm'ish & humid at 6:00 PM in early September. For this game most are not going to complain whenever the kick-off would be.

I still like UH as the marquee opponent because where UNT is now what marquee opponent is not going to be favored? And why would we get a lesser name school and worry about getting beat by them in our new stadium debut? :blink:

I voted for Saturday. I think with it being the opening of the stadium and having Houston as the opponent, we will be able to get it televised. Saturday will allow for a larger crowd, and I want to see the stadium full of loud Mean Green fans. I don't want it to look like SMU last night against TCU, where half the crowd is for the away team. I want Houston red in one small corner of the stadium. Lets send a message to the college football world, and possible recruits.

It doesn't matter if it's a 11am game on a monday , it's the 1st game in the new stadium. If fans really want to come they will show up.

There are other games that are also played on every thursday. ESPN would rather air teams that are good than air the worst team in the nation. Just because we get a new stadium doesn't mean we are going to start getting any new respect. Other teams have new stadiums as well. Our chances being on tv increase with the amount of wins not because we get a new stadium. See SMU , from 1-11 to a bowl winning season & they've already had 2 games on ESPN this season.

I really wouldn't mind a national TV game even if it meant it was on the weekdays. My only fear would be things would be electric in Denton and with Houston being the opponent...that we would get our ass handed to us.

      Awesome win! The only bad part was the commentary from the TV announcers. They confused Newell and Lorient for an extended period of time, stated that Atin Wright originally played at Washington State, and clearly barely knew anything about our program. The play by play announcer gave major 'and boom goes the dynamite' vibes. Some thoughts on the game: - The defense was stellar as we've all come to expect. Delo and Massie were great playing multiple matchups. - Minnesota came out and blitzed our PnRs. We really struggled with the pressure. Eventually we started slipping screens and setting brush screens to counteract it. - Trey Edmonds in the second half forced us to play big. He has a grown man body. Hodge settled on a Lorient/Sissoko combination to match Garcia/Edmonds. - An extended run with a Floyd/Walker/Massie/Lorient/Sissoko lineup including to close the game aside from situational subs. Before the season I would've been shocked that this lineup would close a win on the road against a Big Ten school because of the offense. The spacing was predictably an adventure. Massie wasn't efficient but he kind of made the lineup 'work'. He shows handling, passing, and court awareness in the half court. Feels like he could turn into a secondary ball handler in lineups. - Atin Wright had a meh game by his standards, but still really excited about him this season. He's a bit of a showman and I love it. After getting fouled in transition, he slapped the ball away from the defender and stared at him. On Lorient's massive jam at the end of the game, you can see him standing over Edmonds (who was on the ground). GMG

      Most uneducated post I read was someone saying we could end up being a quad 3 blemish on the gophers tourney resume. 🤦‍♂️ gotta keep winning games like this. Only way to get past the stigma.

      We're considered a mid-major I believe. P5 are Big 10, SEC, ACC, Big 12, and Big East.
