Did you notice that we have a home men's basketball game on January 1?

Are we trying to keep people away?

They had a game starting at noon on a weekday last season...I look at a game on New Years Day as an improvement.

Besides, our family will be there for that game.

SMU has one, too. They could drop them and we could play each other. Might be fun.

Not that big of deal. Its mostly the smaller bowls on that time of day, and Rose Bowl won't be on until 4:00. Beside, no matter what day in that period they play a game, there is usually poor attendance.

Now that the women's schedule is out, it is a doubleheader on Jan 1.

That is awful.

      Offensive Woes

      People loved Leach and they watched him raise Tech up to #2 that one miraculous time. But that system is only meant to compete over time against teams with less talent on defense. Whenever it faces ANYONE with legitimated defensive talent or coaching, it almost always loses. Tech, Wazzu, and MSU were always the same thing under Leach. But people adored Leach’s quirkiness and randomness, so he got a pass. These Leach disciples aren’t ever gonna win anything of note. And I completely blame Leach for his influence on turning TX HS football into glorified 7-on-7. Today, linemen and defense are hardly produced at any decent level in this state. Why? Because this crap doesn’t condone hitting in practice or focusing on defense. Instead, we get basketball scores for the winning teams.

      I would like to follow the Indiana model of recent success with Cignetti from James Madison. Hire a successful DC that has a winning environment and bring a bunch of his defense with him.

      no doubt. I think we could end up with a sneaky tough non-con...though not contributing that will be this current Minnesota team as Yale is currently doing the exact same thing we did
