Changing Up Our Offensive Philosophy

Since we have Riley at qb, dont you think they should change up the offense a little. Im not an offensive coordinator or anything, but riley cant throw the ball down the field very well. Defensive coordinators are going to be able to blitz us like crazy.

If we get "blitzed like crazy" (which I tend to agree with) you don't need a long ball thrower. Mid-range will do just fine. Say to a TE over the middle? It's time to see what Mr. Ross can do.

And why don't we throw over the middle more? We have thrown too much to the sidelines for short gains. I am getting frustrated to to see us slowly move it down field...burn up the clock...just to turn it over b/c of stupid penalties.

Last season in appeared as though Riley was not able to see up the field in the middle, especially on short and mid-range routes. I honestly do not think he is tall enough to see over the line in front of him.

The strengths of our team heading into the season were our offensive line and our running backs. At this point I would like to see us line up with a tight end, a fullback, and a tailback. Let's hand the ball to Lance Dunbar about 30 times per game and run some play action passes. It really does not matter what I think, but there it is......

I agree with you Huff. This will be an interesting game because FAU is one of the most physical teams we play in the Belt. I say live or die by Dunbar. He should get at minimum 20 carries in this ball game.

FAU will bring the whole house after Riley and Lance all game long.

Stop the play makers, and blow up the offensive plays.

Blitz, Blitz, Blitz, for Riley, and a spy on Lance.

I would like for the staff to take advantage of the FAU aggressive

defensive schemes. Quick slants to Stradford, Carey, to use their

speed for yards after catch. Zone reads, pass to flat, reverses

for Dunbar.

An aggressive defense can be burned time after time. I believe

the staff can develop a game plan, that will create many big

plays for the offense!

I'd just like to point out that the general premise of this thread is a discussion on this coaching staff making adjustments...

I mean...I'm not saying...

I have kind of a newsflash - players don't like to run plays that don't work over and over again, especially when they are losing.

So, to the faction that continues to believe it's just a matter of handing the ball off to Dunbar X number of time - no matter the score - I urge you to grab the reigns of reality. If we cannot run against FAU, the players will want to coaches to try something different.
