So We're A Passing Team Without A Qb Who Can Throw...

If Riley had never been injured, he could have been one of the greatest QBs in UNT history. The reality is that his passes yesterday had the velocity of a pop fly. How can we face the next nine games with an offense that does two things: throws sideline passes and runs up the middle? If we can't throw downfield, the talents of Carey, Jackson and Stradford are completely negated and our opponents can just load up on Dunbar. Maybe Riley can get a cortisone shot to fix his arm or something? Otherwise, I say we throw Teegarden out there. He threw 19 touchdowns to 4 interceptions at the 5A level last year. At this point, what do we have to lose?

If only it was that simple. Experience counts in the QB position more than any other. You not only have to be able to throw the ball, you have to read the coverage and know when to adjust where you throw. You also have to know when to just throw the ball away even though that will get lots of boos from fans and your classmates.

Teegarden was a very successful 5A QB. But Riley was much more successful at that level and even before he was injured we weren't doing well. There is a reason coaches at the most successful BCS school prefer to have the QBs carry a clip board and go in with late when the team is winning by 4 TDs when ever they can do that.

We don't even use the strengths that we have at this point...still can't understand why Dunbar only gets 5 carries in the second half yesturday.
