I keep hearing the "7 wins" thrown out there. It's been in the paper, announcers have talked about it, it's been all over here, but I never actually heard or read where RV said, "Todd Dodge has to win 7 games or he's gone."

It was even stated on another thread that if RV made a change now, he wouldn't be keeping his word. What exactly was his word?

The only quote I ever read from RV about expectations for this year was, (I'm paraphrasing here) "6 wins doesn't get me excited."

I'm sincerely asking because I don't know. Maybe I missed it. If so, that's fine.

But we seem to be saying he has to get to some magic number but I'm not sure that's accurate.

It was RV quoted in the DRC about a week or two after the end of last season.

RV said on the gmg.com podcast that they would assess TD's performance at the end of the year, adding, "Let me just say that six wins will not be satisfactory."

Other than that, I don't know that RV has said anything else publicly. But TD has said more.

Six, seven wins is kind of what's been told to me, and that's fine.

The interesting aspect of the whole scenario is that Todd Dodge needs to win, and win a bunch, probably seven games, to ensure his return.

As usual, there were a few interesting tidbits to come out of media day. The most interesting quote came from Todd Dodge, who openly admitted that he has been given an ultimatum by athletic director Rick Villarreal (one we all know to be that UNT has to win seven games this season for the staff to return).
