Canales New Hc

Possible to make Canales new Head Coach, at least for the remainder of the year. You would think that RV would have to make some changes soon.

I looked into Canales and this is what I found.

Positives:

Graduate Assistant at BYU Under Lavell Edwards.1st OC as USF when the started a football program under Jim Leavitt, Coach Snyder Tree. It is hard to believe that USF has only had football 15 years. So he knows how to get programs off the ground and going, USF is Top 40 Team. Coached at NC State under Chuck Amato, Bobby Bowden Tree. He coached Phillip Rivers for 3 Years. Receivers Coach for the Jets under Herm Edwards. Then Went to Arizona Under Mike Stoops, who is under Bob Stoops/Coach Spurrier Tree.

Negatives:

Up until Arizona he was very successful, Arizona was not so good, offense really struggled. Arizona had just come off of Probation and were dealing with previous HC players. His last year at Arizona they Lost Starting QB Willy Tuitama to injury, and then his back up for the 2nd half of the season and had to play with 3rd string. Went to USF and last year, IT was his 1st year as the OC after being promoted from the Receivers Coach. Very early in the season lost starting QB Matt Groethe to Injury. Had to play with Freshman BJ Daniels. Then Leavvitt Controversy, and Holtz brought in his own Coordinators and let go of Canales in February.

O Points vs. Army.

So far it is hard to see what Canales is capable of here at UNT. He has lost 7 Offensive Starters for the Year by the end of his 3rd game. Inclding 1st and 2nd string QB & Center. 3 WR's, and a O lineman. I dont care who the OC is, you can caount on struggling losing that many people so quickly.

I think Canales should be given the job for the remainder of the year. See what he is about, if it doesnt work, then look elsewhere.

Next HC will be somebody new...with a clean house. The old regime has to go. It's been 5 years of losing losing and more losing. I don't think Canales deserves the interim job. I wouldn't fire Dodge mid season as it does no good in the first place but if you are going to do it then I would name Deloach the interim.

probably the only reason that you let dodge go after his 6th loss and make canales the interim hc is if you are considering him for that position. otherwise, get thru the season as best you can and then off with their heads including deloach. a new broom sweeps clean.

Canales is the OC. We just had our offense shut out for the first time since 2006. The polish is off that apple for me...

I am not real impressed with him either at this point. 12 carries by Dunbar is enough to tell me someone is unsure of something.

Here's the problem - they tally wins and losses by the final score, not the final stats. We're 0-3 with Canales as OC. If we tank, all the coaches involved must go.

No chance. What did he do to prove he can turn this thing around besides get fired from USF and have to try to resurrect his career in the Sun Belt.
