If we start off next year with a new coach, we are going to have a miserable time. It takes 3 years for a new coach to get off the ground. It will be horrible for recruiting to change right now. I actually saw progress last night, and I think we are going to win more games in the Belt than we lose. I say you stay with Dodge another year to see what happens with the new stadium and recruiting. Who knows Texas high school football better than TD? No one.

That is a keyword. He is not a college coach at this point in his life. In the words of the great Dan Hawkins....."ITS DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL! GO PLAY INTRAMURALS BROTHER!"

Yes, what would we do without all the 4 and 5 star recruits Coach Dodge has brought to this program...

I thought we beat this thought to death last year??? First year coaches can make a difference. Dodge chose to bring his high school staff and severely impede progress here. Enough's enough.

Then why isn't Dodge off the ground in his fourth year?

I'd love to have Todd back next year, because that would mean we'd likely be Sun Belt Champs this year. You have to draw a line somewhere. The line has been drawn and everyone, TD more than anyone, knows what the goal is. The bar isn't and hasn't been all that high these past 4 years and yet still, we have managed to continually defy expectations in the opposite direction we should be going.

No one knows this Falls expecations more than Todd Dodge himself--trust me, he will not go off the deep end if he loses his job with North Texas. Jeez......if not at UNT, the guy has pretty good skins on the wall to get a job somewhere else albeit might be Texas HS football so he can regain his sanity. UNT has not been the easiest of jobs for many before him. Look where most of their next jobs (save Fry & Moore) were after UNT dismissed them for further proof.

Of course, all this contingent on "IF" Todd Dodge loses his job--miracles have happened before but last night's loss at Fouts Field mean't Coach would need a bigger miracle this time around. Who knows what the SBC will do for the Coach Dodges' Mean Green, though. Because in 2001 we started 0 & 5 and then ran through the SBC like Jackson did Atlanta literally saved Coach Dickey's job in 2001. It was his 4'th year and we went 5 & 6 for you new readers and posters.

GMG!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! We could have TD back next year and still not be sbc champs!

Would that make you sleep better at night?

I sleep just fine at night.... Not sure what that has to do with anything. 7 wins is fine by me, as long as the requirement the next year is 8 wins. If Dodge is back next year, there's a high likelihood we'd be SBC champs and bowl eligible this year. I'm okay with that. If not, see you later TD.

I'm just saying that with the exception of some very stupid mistakes on special teams, I liked what I saw last night. The play-calling was aggressive and the team played well on both sides of the ball. Except for our QB being lost (that's a biggie)...I think we win a bunch of Belt games and Dodge should stay another year to see if he can make even more progress. Now, if we win 1-2 games this year, Dodge knows he's gone. I sat beside a Rice player's Dad last night from Lake Dallas. He said that his son was recruited heavily by Dodge. He said Dodge was by far the best coach, but his son chose Rice because of things like long bus rides in Belt games as opposed to getting to fly in CUSA (more money). I still believe that Dodge can get us there.
