I've been having to follow on the Daily Dime's live chat. Sounds like Durant is carrying us.

Yeah, I believe he has 20 points, and 5 of 8 from 3-point range. The rest of the team is 1 for 13. Turkey is starting to look a little better. USA up 40-31. 24 seconds left 1st half.

I just watched the replay on ESPN2. Really solid effort by the guys and you could see how genuinely happy they all were. You couldn't wipe the grins off any of their faces if you tried (and Turkey's fans certainly did since they booed during practically our entire medal ceremony/National anthem).

It was nice to finally see Coach K get a gold medal too (coaches don't get them at the Olympics but do at the World Championships).

To a degree I am with ya Matt. But part of me thinks this was a better way to build a team. The 2008 squad did play learn to play like a team by the end, but I wonder if having ALL of the major stars on the team doesn't open up a Pandora's Box as far as team chemistry (or lack thereof) is concerned. A lot of the guys were young in '08 so that might explain why at the end of the day they all did look to Kobe Bryant when the chips were down in the Gold Medal game, but I wonder what would happen if we faced that situation in '12 with about 5 alpha males wanting the ball.

This team had role players, and excellent ones at that. You can't just throw a bunch of superstars together...somebody has to bang the boards, set picks, etc..

      If we win out reg season we are in?

      Minnesota with a 3rd straight Quad 1 win. Our win in their house is looking better every game. Baring a collapse, Memphis is all but guaranteed a spot. Prior to their loss at Temple, some bracket experts had them as a 4 seed. They're 5-2 in Quad 1 games and 10-3 in Quad 1 and 2 with wins against Missouri, UConn, Michigan State, Clemson, Ole Miss, all of which are in the top 35 of NET. The resume is too strong unless they pretty much lose out. Cougar guy is wrong, though. Independent bracket experts with good track records of guessing the field still have UNT as being in contention. It's a longshot but not dead.

      TX State to the PAC 2?

      It’s interesting because I know the perception of the new PAC and AAC is that the PAC will be stronger, but where would Texas State rather go? It seems like AAC for a variety of reasons. I’m not convinced the new PAC is better than the AAC. UNLV and New Mexico holding back in the MWC, with the Northern Illinois and GCU ads have the future PAC in a bit of limbo. They have to keep performing or they will fall back fast. The SBC and AAC currently are the more stable forces, hence a certain level of power and leverage lives there. To me the PAC must break the bank to get Memphis or they are not going to lift on takeoff. GMG

      Join the Infantry in Houston - Tuesday, 2/11 at 8pm

      Rob Lanier, former SMU head coach, found out what the Infantry could do last February at Moody Coliseum. So when he moved over to Rice, inside sources suggest he slipped Tim Spaghetti some cash to make sure his home game against UNT would be on a weeknight this season. But I say, "Too bad, Rob! You can't escape us!" If you're in Houston, or are retired and can make the trip, or want to use a couple of half days like I did, join us at the terrible Tudor Fieldhouse on Tuesday, 2/11 at 8 p.m. The game has the later start because it'll be on ESPNU as the "west coast game." There are just under a hundred seats left behind our bench which would be group-rated at $25. For the second straight year I want to sell the section out. What'll make it better is the sea of green will be on national TV. It'll be different without Scott Screamin' Pera on the Rice bench, but we'll still have plenty to taunt Lanier about. Like how his son has to follow him around to maintain a D1 scholarship. And don't forget the UNT Dallas debacle. Here's what we did last year. We bought about 70 tickets, plus whatever the team was allotted, and the local alumni who bought on their own. If you are interested in joining our group for the game, message me. I've got pending communication out with the Houston alumni chapter to see if they will plan to do anything before the game like last year.       24/25 MBB Attendance Tracker

      12,400 announced at Providence today, who came into the game with a record of 9-10. Providence is about the same distance to Boston as Denton is to Dallas.
