"All in all - the day was a success. I don't think we'll find out how successful it really was until NT beats the crap out of a few teams this year."

"I don't think I would want to be in any defense meetings this week. Do you think that we could get back to the fundamentals like wrapping up when we tackle? I know we might have some rust on us but come on UNT's running back looked like we was covered in CRISCO as he ran through our LB's, D-line, and Secondary."

"Have to agree I guess we should feel lucky that we only gave up 10 points. Again I seriously hope that this was just the first game jitters, rust, or what ever you want to call it. We get one more quote warm up before we really start getting into the meat of our schedule. Come Steele now is the time to work some magic!"

"North Texas threw about everything they had at us and we bent but will did not break and still beat them by what 25 points. There is nothing to be ashamed of and I give credit to North Texas for their great effort in this game."

"No one has really given any credit to Dunbar the running back of North Texas, Just remember that North texas probably should have won about 7 games last year(they blew 5 double digit 4th quarter leads), and this year they are expected to contend for there conference title.

Furthermore lets remember that Texas beat Rice today 34-17, and North Texas plays Rice next week. If North Texas beats rice by 14 next week some of you may start to give a little more credit to North Texas. This win may not be as bad as you think by the end of the year is all I am saying.

Sure I was dissapointed by the amount of time North Texas had the ball, and the fact that they had 400 yards of offense. But truthfully I am a bottom line guy. and the bottom line is this is a better North texas team than last year, Last year they scored 7 points against Alabama and we held them to 10. thats 3 points difference. Its not as bad as some of you think."

"I was disusted at the lack of effort early and the flat play on the field. It was good to see some big plays, but we should be able to shred UNT, no questions. The Dunbar kid at RB is amazing though."

I could probably grade yesterday's performance, but after thinking about it awhile, I think I need to give credit to the North Texas group causing our performance to appear less than what it was.

"They have a pretty darn good coach, as he coached a Texas HS team to 4 of the past 5 5A state titles - so the man knows how to coach. That doesn't always translate to the college level, but in his case, I think it does.

Also, Dunbar could play on anyone's team. We have excellent defenders and he was moving thru them easily most times. The guy is simply that good.

And their QB and WR's are EXPERIENCED, and were very good last season. They might be even better this year.

Anyone that doesn't think NT will win a bunch of games this season is not looking. We beat a very solid, well-coached team that was firing on all cylinders. We just outplayed them. We'll be fine."

"Don't discount this UNT offense, their coach is a high school god in texas. His offenses were madden-esque , and he only lost one game in 6 years. UNT is potent and Dunbar is a really good RB who has a great shot at the pro's."

"Southern Miss was not as good as was predicted. North Texas was much better than predicted and will finish this season with a winning record. Usuc looked much sharper on defense than we did, whether we want to admit it or not. Bottom line: We were not expecting the N Texas staff to prepare for us as well as they did. Steele got out coached."

"I think the entire UNT AD budget prior to this season was in the 10 to 12 M range. Not surprising that they have had problems recruiting with how poor their existing stadium is. Looks like they passed a student body athletics fee for the first time with an enrollment of over 35k and are building a pretty nice stadium for their conference.

UNT should get a lot better pretty quickly"

"after a good night's sleep I've come to this conclusion: There is NO way to put a positive spin our defense's performance. period. It's not how many yards North Texas gained, it's how they gained them. From the opening kickoff to the closing whistle they controlled the clock and dragged our defense up and down the field methodically carving out yards. They had quick slants, posts, passes up the middle and Dunbar ran at will. Our D Line looked soft, our LB's non-existent and our D-backs asleep at the wheel. If you take away our 3 longest plays we end up with minimal yardage. If you take away their 3 longest plays, it's still a 400+ yard game for North Texas. With TOP 3 times longer than Clemson's, it's obvious that we did not have a single answer on D. Are they well coached? Hell yes, I give North Texas a lot of credit. However, it wasn't our second string defense that they had their way with. I don't want to be all doom and gloom after the first week but the fact is that the score of this game does NOT reflect how close this could have been. North Texas was devastated by penalties all game whereas they worked in our favor throughout. This could easily have been a 21-17 victory, and if that were the case we'd ALL be saying the sky is falling."

Alright....I am done fishing.
