damn straight! We had our mistakes but overall, I'm very pleased with our team this year. Tune hung in there and played well. Lance is a ninja. Who's number 10 on defense?...needs to work on tackling. But overall, great game played and I look forward to Rice!!

Yes, we lost. Yes, it sucks. I still say, having seen it live, we haven't "shown up" for a money game like this since 2002 at Texas. Sure, some will nitpick this game to death...and wrongly so. We moved the ball. We scored against the first team D. We gave up 4" and about 40 lbs on both lines...yet we fought until the final whistle. These things didn't happen in recent years. Lance went for 100 plus.

Rice is in trouble next Saturday. I believe it, it's time you did too.

8 wins.

I agree I felt like I saw leaps in improvement from recent years. Maybe it is hope but we will have our answers next week. We did cover the spread.

Yep. Overall, a really good effort until the final gun. Our offense was extremely poised.

Lance is just a stud against any team. Nathan did a fantastic job. The WR's made some nice yardage after the catch at times. The OL did a decent job against a massive DL.

It has been a long, long time since we were this competitive against an upper-echolon school in their house.

Initially, I just hoped that we could keep it close. Now, after seeing the game, we could have took this one with some better tackling and a couple of key breaks.

I can't wait for next weeks opener. Keep it up Mean Green !

I echo your sentiments. This team fought hard and hung in there all game. Am I disappointed with the outcome? Certainly. This is the kind of performance I expected in season two of the Dodge tenure but, given the QB and OC change, I think the offense played pretty well. The defense still has tackling issues and the big plays killed us but there was some definite improvement. I was particularly thrilled with Robertson's INT in the end zone.

Rice played Texas to a 34-17 loss and was very competitive in doing so. For that reason, I am a bit more concerned with next week's game than I was yesterday.

cook...he had a bad game...he looked lost and he couldn't tackle. he's better than that! hopefully, he turns it around.

i'm happy with the results. they racked up 400+ yards in a money game...dunbar for 100+ in a money game...good stuff

Great post and agree 100%. They showed up and there was just some renewed sense of energy and urgency with this thing even when they could have folded and gave up 50 points. Although, I don't think Rice is a gimme because they played a pretty decent game against Texas and kept it very close for a long time. It should be a good game but I feel good about next week.

I saw a lot of things I really liked today. Besides the defense at times arm tackling, they held up fairly well. Secondary had a decent game although Cook of all players just looked sluggish at times with bad pursuit angles and missed tackles. I don't understand where the animosity towards Tune is coming from IMO dude played a good game and made a few mistakes against a very solid ACC secondary. The offense moved the ball all day long against this team and we like you said we have been completely embarrassed in these money games even when were playing terrible KSU teams. I am very optimistic about this season, very very excited for the Rice game, expecting a big turnout.

I normally dismiss the whole "yeah but we out gained them in yardage" argument but look at the stats.

Good effort by the players. Over 400 yards is great, but again almost all of it was gained between the 20s. Very much resembled last years offense in that respect.

But this was Clemson. The true test of how we do in conference play comes next week against Rice, who looked much improved today.

The team as a whole looked leaps and bounds more prepared for the game today. In reality though... had that been Riley at QB today he'd be getting killed for the stupid mistakes and throws.... Tune is being described as fantastic.

We gave up a few very big plahys, special teams coverage was bad, and we had two turnovers when we were in scoring position. We put up almost 500 yards of offense at ran the ball extremely well at times. Santiago played poorly, he was a step to slow. Tune was pretty good and showed great poise. He needs to be more careful in the red zone and get more air under the ball on the end zone fade. But what makes me most proud is that we competed against one of the ACC's best teams....

I agree with your concern but also consider this year's UT team is not the same as last year with Colt driving the offense. Gilbert has yet to truly prove himself and while most expect Rice to perform better this year...I can only get EXTREMELY excited about next week's game in that we have a very respectable chance at getting a W.

Very proud of the team. They proved me wrong today. Tune looked poised out there and made some good decisions on the zone read. He forced a throw across his body that he didn't have to and he didn't get enough under the fade on his picks today. On the flip side his TD pass was a thing of beauty. Our tackles were getting bum rushed all day and I think Tune needs to do a better job of stepping up into the pocket. One second can make a world of difference on a route and I think Nathan needs to but more time up in the pocket. Dunbar was a stud today running and receiving. I think you are looking at the Sunbelt offensive player of the year if he stays healthy. Kudos to Leppo for stepping in and doing a nice job in relief. Wow we actually used tight ends and we actually line d up under center. Very proud of the offense and I think we can move the ball AND score against the remainder of our schedule.

The defense MUST tackle better. Hill and Cook looked shaky at times and just didn't take good angles. And when they got there they tackled like you would expect a junior high player to tackle. The big play hurt us again.

Kick coverage was terrible nothing more needs to be said.

I am looking forward to Rice and I believe that we will come out on top.

I don't agree. I know you want to defend Riley at every turn but I don't think many, myself included, would say that first pick was a good decision. The second pick was just a GREAT play by the DB.

People are high on Tune because he made something out of nothing several times. Also, can we PLEASE agree that Tune is no track star but he can move when necessary. (So much for Dunbar's running suffering, huh?)

Another thing, THE TRICK PLAY!!!!!!!!

Stratford HAD him, why was Stratford the one running that play and not Dodge, that was a terrible throw, that's a 4 point swing because of that throw.

Edit-But I loved the play call in the situation, despite the fact that it didn't work. I'm really excited about Chico and what he'll cook up for sun belt teams this season

Just to be clear, I'm in not calling for Rodge to be back at QB but people are going to praise a mistake laden game by Tune when they'd be calling for Riley's head. 3 fumbles and general confusion in the pocket under pressure. That second pick looked to me like it was supposed to be a back shoulder fade route... thrown to the inside shoulder of the CB. Not a terribley bad start by Tune, but it will and already is being praised as a smashing success.

Tune had a good 1st half but bad 2nd half. Dunbar is a stud. Defense played better than expected, but still very bad at times. Special Teams are still bad. I'm stll not sure what to think of this team.
