MTSU is also playing their backup QB got gobsmacked early, and are now ahead. Sorry you aren't impressed.

sorry i'm not impressed, but they are doing what i expected them to do and that is win.

different levels of impressiveness for different folks...no biggie

Looks like MUTS may be not so strong against the run. Games like this the team who can run should run, run, run and eat the hell out of the clock and with our team vertically stretch one of our speed'sters for the occasional long pass.

I think our offensive line with our running game will keep us in most conference & SBC games--now winning those games is another thing; who knows, maybe Lady Luck will change sides this season and give the Mean Green a big ol' (over-due) smile.

And jeez, this kid is their #2 QB?

GMG!

29,000 plus for their attendance. Must be counting no shows?

yes, they are tied at the half, but minny has missed two field goals that would have changed field position. the misses weren't due to great rushes by the defense, just a shoddy kicker. the muts are tied, but i'm not gonna say that i'm impressed with them. they should be losing, they aren't, but it isn't because of their defensive special teams. it's because minny's kicker can't kick.

would you still be impressed if the muts were down six at the half??? i wouldn't.

It boils down to wins and losses. Don't blame the MTSU for Minnesota having a bad kicker. In theory MN should be hammering MT right? MTSU just decided to grow a few inches and made it a game out of it. You have to give credit where credit is due.

i don't think minny should be hammering the muts. i expected them to win. the fact that they are struggling a bit just doesn't have me impressed. i know they have their backup qb in, but i still expected them to win and i hope they do. any win by a belt team is good for the conference.

If Dasher was playing , I'd expect MTSU to win. Without him I'd say Minn is about a 10 point better team. The fact that the MUTS will have a chance to win this game I call it impressive. I didn't think they were that good last year when they came to Denton and they are basically the same team

Will still have a chance for a conference WIN with FAU vs UAB

FAU just took the lead 32-31 2 minutes to go

is that game on tv???

I totally disagree with you on this one. They are not playing a lower level team from the MAC, Minnesota is a Big 10 team. There is not another team in the league, except for maybe Troy, to be playing their back up qb and leading in the 4th quarter to only lose at the end. I am especially impressed with them after being down 14 early, their D stepped up and played well until Minnesota run game just wore them down in the 4th quarter. If you are mtsu you have to upset that you couldn't hold on to win but they found out that they are still going to be a pretty good team playing their #2 quarterback.

I think they announcer stated they had 25,800, 5th largest attendance in history. It sure looked like a lot of empty seats, seems their stadium has a lot of endzone seating. I was thinking last night how great our new stadium will look on TV.

I thought that MTSU played very well considering the loss of their QB, but I expected them to win that game. Thay have some very talented receivers, and definitely are a good SBC team, and I expected a little more out of them last night, to be honest. From what I saw last night, I think UNT has a good chance against them if they can keep the chains moving and hang on to the ball, and I'm not so sure why they were picked by so many to win the conference.

Minnesota was absolutely demolishing them with their running backs, and the next to last drive I thought MTSU's defense was totally gassed, as they were alligator arming tackles and getting pounded on the ground by a less than mediocre Big 10 team. Who knows. It was the first game, so we'll see how they look next weekend.

I agree that if Dasher plays last night the Muts win.

ALSO! I can't begin to express how fortunate we are that our stadium will be concrete. MTSU's stadium looked so high school on TV last night. We can all be thankful and proud that RV and those who played such a major role in getting us a new stadium didn't panic and go the route of MTSU and UCF.

That concrete stadium gives us crediblity before we ever run our first play in that facility.

Oh, how thankful we all should be.

i sat and watched the first drive and then turned it off.

that first drive from minn is what every SBC wants to avoid in that scenario. to respond to a demoralizing start to the year is incredibly impressive. i know that i was pulling for them and i was hanging my head after they went down 0-7.

it's not a W, but i was proud of our league brethren.

I was also impressed with the way MUTS responded to the early adversity. Two critical pass interferences in the end zone (one was a bad call) gave Minn their first 2 TD's. Then, MUTS got a horrible spot on a critical 3rd down scramble by their QB, coming up just short. With the score 14-0, MINN went for it on 4th and 1. The MINN RB appeared to be stopped short, only to be given a favorable spot. The spot gave them a first down by < 1 inch. Every possible bad break was going against MUTS at this point in the 2nd quarter.

After all of this happened, MUTS could have rolled over and played dead. The fact that they rallied from all that, against a big 10 team with a massive OL, was very impressive to me.

Nice job MUTS !

I would be thrilled if our team gave the same kind of effort on saturday, win or lose.
