the only possible problem with "The Green" is during much of football season most foliage is brown. I realize it is a play on the golf course, the LEED stadium, and us being the Mean Green. Still maybe something to think about? Maybe not...

It should be the "Aerie" - the nest of a bird of prey, as an eagle or a hawk. (per Dictionary.com)

I think some would need to know how to pronounce that first, or am I the only one?

I personally like calling The Green, its simple and obvious.

Not really too hard - just "air" and "ee"

i'm in the minority and think that "the green" sounds kinda ghey. how do you meet at a color? i understand where the proposed name is coming from, but it sounds really generic and stupid....sorry kram!

the yard is all i can think of and i'm not that excited about that suggestion...

It's not a color. It's a putting surface. An attitude about the environment. The reason a dollar is called a greenback.

How can it NOT be called The Green. Besides, grassy knoll would be confusing.

so now our tailgating area could be named after golf??? i just don't get it, nor do i see the greatness of the name and why must we make a statement towards the environment? for the record, i don't recycle and really don't care about all the LEED stuff going on at the stadium except that it is drawing positive attention to the university.

not trying to nitpick or argue, i just don't get it...

One thing about it, UNT had 3 (or 4?) NCAA National Championship Golf teams who used to train on some of that area where our football palace is being built. Might be a nice gesture to find a name that honors that legacy.

GMG!

We had 2. Our only two national championships to be won in any sport.

"The Green" is a very good name.

A couple of definitions from dictionary.com for those that don't get it.

Green - "grassy land; a plot of grassy ground."

Green - "a piece of grassy ground constituting a town or village common."

So if the area where our stadium stands is the Mean Green Village - The Green makes pretty good sense.
