I had the opportunity to tour the AC and view the new stadium from different angles this past Friday. These pictures that everyone provides are great and I do appreciate them so much but they just don't do the stadium site justice. I was one stating the home side didn't seem very steeply sloped. I was completely wrong, it will have a very nice steep pitch to it. Also, the webcam only shows a small portion of all the activity. There are probably 100 people working around the entire site. The student side can't be seen with the cam but it is coming along great. The field seems dug down in all these pics but in person, overlooking from the balconey of the AC, it is way down there. This is truly going to an amazing stadium. I got to walk around back and view the practice fields and area between AC and dorms, very nice facilities. I can honestly say that we have a good shot at getting most recruits that come to campus and view our entire campus. I drove around campus and damn near wrecked several times due to all the eye candy walking around, who said we don't have a beautiful campus or were they talking about plants and stuff?

I think I may have saw you. Were you and your kids the ones in UT gear?

Yeah, that was probably us. I have to admit that I don't own a UNT hat. I just have not found one that I can stand yet, so I was rocking the orange up top yesterday. I did pick up some REALLY important stuff recently, however. ;)

It really is, and I totally agree with the comment about the stadium "sink". It's very hard to get this perspective without being there in person. When you see it up close, it really gives you a much better idea of just how massive the thing is. And I also agree that the slope is going to provide for some awesome angles to view the game. The place is going to have terrific sight lines. It's just a great facility all around. Been a long time coming, but it's going to be a wonderful payoff after a long wait for UNT fans.

Can't wait to see it in person, but just looking at the construction equipment on the floor of the stadium and how small they, the crane and flatbed trailer, look will give you an idea of how large this facility will be at completion.

One question for those that have been on site, I've noticed in the drawings that the lower bowl on the west side is larger than the lower bowl on the east side. Is this correct? Seems odd considering this will have to be addressed in about 3 to 5 years when the stadium is expanded.

Lifer, if you're talking about the seats that will be below the concourse in the stadium (those that are going to be backed by the "wall of dirt" or lower bowl) then I don't see the east side being smaller.

It is apparent that there will be fewer above the concourse on the east side, but the lower concourse looks the same to me. Others might disagree, but the lower concourse looks uniform from the AC in my opinion. I think that the slope downhill from east to west definitely provides a bit of an illusion.

Actually, I had it backwards. The photo in the above link shows the lower bowl on the east side being larger than that on the west. I was just curious if this was accurate, and if it is, how this will be addressed when the stadium is expanded in the future.

Don't know for sure, but it probably has something to do with the grade of the land and the fact that the Eastern bleachers are being 'built in' to the side of the hill more so than the West side.

I see what you're saying now. Yeah, it definitely looks a little higher on the east side, now that I go back and look at the photos. Probably will be pretty close to what's depicted above.

This is the reason. Also, another deck will be added to the east side during expansion.
