Three questions:

1. What are the appropriate uses for the semicolon? In my opinion it is an underutilized punctuation, especially in sports writing.

2. Who is the recognized authority in regulating grammar? (not whom)

3. Is it permissible to flog writers who do not use "an" before words beginning with the letter "h"?

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Sometimes it's fun to hack off the punctuation police...other times not so much! OUCH!
