...that would be their annual football section.

Talk about a newspaper that has gone down in size and scope and number of inches of wordage.

For Starters: The city of Fort Worth is now annexed to a degree inside the Denton County line near Alliance.

The FW S/T used to have full sports coverage with their good neighborhood 35 miles north (which has now become even closer when you count the Fort Worth northern city limit existence in Denton County.

YET.......now that have almost 40,000 UNT students in sight; now that the City of Denton has grown substantially and now that Denton County's population is larger than the city of New Orleans was before Hurricane Katrina; anyway, the larger our UNT community and constituency (and those who buy or would buy the FWST); our coverage is now next to "almost" blurb-status--sometimes not even a blurb.

Lets see now, we do seem to have a significant Fort Worth presence with our UNT Health Science Center At.......Fort Worth. We know we have a presence with all the NT Exes living in Tarrant County and the West O' Plex (adjacent counties like Parker County where I live): so..........

This thread will soon be on Page 10, but I do wish the FWST folks would reconsider what they are doing and just give us a beat reporter for Mean Green athletics. UNT is not going to disappear because they are not covering the future 2'nd largest university in Texas (according to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board down in Austin, Texas).

Such numbers as ours buys newspapers, but if they don't give us a reason to buy the Fort Worth Star Telegram anymore--we won't. Just my .02

They are just as likely to cover the Texas Christian(Disciples of Christ) University Horned Frogs as they are us. And, who can blame them? When you go to the store to buy their product, it says right there on the can "Fort Worth Star Telelgram" which would lead many to believe that the main focus of their so-called news coverage is the Fort Worth part of Texas and all things lying within said boundaries of such.

Yep, that explains all the U of Texas and OU coverage that gets into the Star on a regular basis. They are so close to Ft. Worth and tarrant County and all. Sorry, I still do not understand the lack of coverage UNT gets from both the areas "main" print. It's just one of the things that seem a bit out of line to me, but UNT fans and alums are not known for letting their voices be heard to such businesses, so I guess it is what it is...at least for now!

I would venture to guess that Texas and Oklahoma transcend local squabbles of coverage and are classified more on a national scale. I'd wager and bet that you'll find coverage of the Longhorns and Sooners on and off the field exploits from here to the Abilene Reporter News and beyond.

Call me crazy, but we don't yet have the cache built up that can touch the vast number of awards and championships (and, for Texas, asterisk championships and awards) that those two have and, therefore, will have to win and win and win and win and win and win and win for years and years and years and years and year and years and years before our neighbors in the town of the cow give our proper dues and respects.

This is the first year in a while that I have not taken the FWST for the six months we call football season because there is no coverage of NT.

Even the North Texas Touchdown Run results didn't get posted, as they did in the DMN.

I read the DMN daily. I usually read the USA Today, WSJ and online versions of the DRC...I am a newspaper addict.

FW is my home town, and the FWST is my hometown newspaper. I deeply love reading about my hometown, but now I only pick it up when it is free (in the Admirals Club or library).

If you take the paper, drop it...and tell them why.
