Vanderbilt either didn’t have or didn’t want to pay him $1.5M. Providence gave him $2.0M per the Trilly discord. Trilly said he had multiple $1.5M offers and said he was going to Providence days before it was announced. Scott Drew & Jerome Tang discussed how high NIL deals from last year were now LOW NIL deals this year. I’d play in hell for a season for $2 million. More than enough money to ship in A/C.
UNT NIL + Vanderbilt NIL + Providence NIL = more than most make in a lifetime. Now imagine if he gets that JUCO year back. He literally could never work past the following year and live a better life than the above average person. A decent roll of two ply would have more use to him than any degree I hold.
Not exact game numbers I can almost guarantee Memphis got more exposure for their 1 and done game. I would rather get blown out in the first round of the NCAA tournament than win the NIT. It's a worthless tournament for exposure now. First round of the big dance average 9.1 million viewers.

Two games on the same night. Not a true apples to apples comparison.
College Basketball Crown Third Quarterfinal: UCF vs. Cincinnati (FS1, 7:02 PM-9:14 PM, 132 min.) • 0.181 million viewers
NIT Tournament Championship: UT-Chattanooga vs. UC Irvine (ESPN, 9:07 PM-11:36 PM, 149 min.) • 0.508 million viewers
They just created the crown to give the power programs a secondary tourney so they did not have to play D2 or lower level teams. That is all it was. Terrible for the sport.
