No one rushed to save us when the WAC fired what appeared to be the kill shot, and would have been had UNT and ULL not held firm.

It is in our interest to put the WAC out of business. The question is are there 8 university presidents in the Sun Belt willing to cast votes to add Tech and NMSU.

Agreed.

Gut feeling on it? I feel like NMSU would be welcomed back fairly easily. Tech might run into some serious resistance though. Think there would be enough "stick it to em'" mentality among a few of the schools not to ok it?

Without Fresno St., Nevada, and Boise the WAC is a no go. I think the SB should drop some of the current member and pick up some of the WAC members. Personally I would like to see both Louisiana schools go and possibly the FL schools.

I could do without FIU, FAU, and ULM. I like ULL though.

What happened here? I thought the WAC name was so good that it was where we should be. Are you admitting that you may have been wrong?

--I have consistantly said that joining that thing would be as terrible mistake.... teams that wanted to leave (and have) plus spread out... and in a terrible time zone with gets little media attention..... and too much travel especially for non-football sports. . I would let LaTech and NMSU back in the Belt.... but not the rest.

---It has always looked like a dying duck to me. Too many problems...

I know there has been discussion of the Belt trying to grab NMSU and La Tech. But what happens to the WAC is just one more of the six leave. Don't they fall below the six schools together for five years rule and lose just about everything? No auto qualifiers for basketball, baseball, golf, etc. All the basketball units revert to their original teams. Adding new teams doesn't help if one more leaves.

And at the presser today, Benson said the $5 million no longer applies to the remaining six. I didn't hear the explanation of that, but the La Tech folks are thinking that is their out to join CUSA. The mail carrier is just late getting the invitation to them.

The WAC dying? Just because 16 teams leave in the span of 11 years shouldn't be misconstrued as a problem with the league.

Some really smart posters here told me they left for better opportunities because of how great the WAC is. I mean, if a boss gets 16 employees promoted in 11 years, he must be one heck of a boss.

      Legally you can do that without collective bargaining. My hope is that we go to a collective bargained system were incoming freshman are only eligible to receive full scholarships with a cost of attendance stipend that is the average for all the universities in the state the college resides in. After their freshman year they are eligible to transfer but two year contracts are available to them at that time. So you can transfer get another one year athletic scholarship with stipend or get a two year binding contract. Only medical redshirts are available for under contract players. And their contracts can be extended for a third year on the year but the university is only obligated to at least give them full scholarship on the back end of a contract impacted by a medical redshirt year. Once you transfer at the end of a contract you have to have 2 years of eligibility left to match the contract. So a senior with 2 years of eligibility left cannot be released to be a "free agent" graduate student athlete under contract. Either they payback the value of the remaining contract or they can be released at the discretion of the university. I would go on with a few more minor details for graduate situations but already find this tedious. Thank you GREEDY FBS MAFIA. 😂

      A Volleyball Coach To Consider??

      Have you looked at McNeese and Points' home records? If you really think Hodge is not doing a good job, than I can't imagine; what NT mbb coach you think was able to do more. Blakeley or McCasland maybe, but neither had to deal with the NIL situation at NT. NT lost in reality all their starters. Sissoko started a lot, but usually was quickly replaced. Hodge has basically started over and has the team playing very good basketball. Being in the top 3 in the AAC will be a challenge for any conference team. I don't think even Memphis with all their advanages have that guaranteed.

      In before lock! First off, I will not excuse the Healthcare companies and foul practices, but It's also not a black and white issue either. I work in healthcare finance, so I see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff. #1 issue is that all government paid healthcare (Medicare packages, medicaid, VA, etc...) usually pay below the cost of care. If we went with those numbers, we couldn't even afford to operate, so are forced to charge private healthcare (UHC, Blueshield, etc...) higher amounts just to stay afloat. If we didn't, you wouldn't be getting your treatments. That's the very horrible ballgame we are playing right now. Private healthcare has a right to profit, it (should) enable growth, support, and eventually lower cost to customers. That's where they failed. They pocketed the cash and didn't give back. Same as price gouging in stores since covid. They won't lower them now that its lining their pockets. Whole economy is f*cked at the moment, turning into an oligarchy. Glad to see we have a bunch of wealthy people soon the be running the country and certainly looking out for the little guys... /s
