I hope Coach Nelson knows what he's doing. After last season....when he tried to turn Eddrick into a DT.....I have to wonder.

A few days ago AK was said to be running second team with Gaines and Obi running first team. Dixon running first team may just be a motivational carrot for Gaines, Obi and McCoy.

DE depth, at the very least, looks good.

AK is a good pass rusher, but not an every down DE. He would be great to come in for blitz packages, but he is weak against the run.

That may have been true last year when he was 20 pounds lighter, but I think his combination of speed, strength, and size will be more than adequate on most plays. Maybe replace him with Anyiam or Cantly in goal-line situations, but otherwise I think he'll be fine.

Good point, I forgot that he put on 20 pounds. I am interested to see how the defense does this year.

It seems as though neither of the DE spots are secured as we've heard that Weber, McCoy, KC, AK, Dixon and Gaines have all run with first team. Should be interesting to see how this plays out.
