A Canales Quote That Stuck With Me

I have a different view of this. While I appreciate that we are getting favorable comparisons to good programs, it still burns my butt that we are getting warm fuzzies over being compared to a school that's only been in existence since 1956, and a football program that didn't play a down of football before 1997.

THE COMPARISONS SHOULD BE REVERSED! <_<

agreed. It is unfortunate that our football program has been superceded by a school that started this < 15 years ago. But that is our reality (and an unfair advantage with their AQ budget).

We can only speculate why Chico would bring this up to Spencer. My guess is Chico was trying to keep Lefty around...he thought highly of him.

If he would have said good enough to start for Alabama I would have been pleased, but good enough to play for him at S. Florida isn't good enough.

Why? There is no doubt that South Florida is farther along with football than we are. Whether they "should be" is irrelevant. The reality is they are and we need to get there before we can even think about matching up with Alabama. Hard to see why some people are so upset over the obvious. South Florida would have creamed us the last few years. I don't like it, but it doesn't make it any less real.

"play for" is the part I don't like. Start would have been better.

Let's all stop jumping around and giving each other high fives and wait and see what the coaches can do this season.

It's a no brainer that we have talented players on the roster, COACHING, Coaching decsions, gameplans, counter game plans, have been the reasons we have failed to suceed, not the players.

I have a lot of faith in Coach Canales, and believe he will be responsible a for a lot of positives on the Offensive side of the ball this year.

It's all of the above... not one or the other.

While coaching has definitely been an issue, Dodge et al. can't go out there and catch the game winning touchdown pass in the Ohio game (2X), or kick a field goal, or prevent interceptions at critical game junctures. Player improvement is IMPERATIVE! Coaching improvement is IMPERATIVE!
